A water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion ink for stencil printing is provided, which is excellent in emulsion stability and drying, high in printing density and low in blurring and seep through. The W/O emulsion ink has an oil phase and a water phase, in which an acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is contained together with a water-insoluble colorant in said water phase. The acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is preferably an acid anhydride containing olefin copolymer, more specifically, an isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, or an acid anhydride containing vinyl copolymer, more specifically, a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer. Preferably, the oil phase comprises at least a solvent and an emulsifier, and the water phase comprises a water-in-oil (O/W) emulsion of resin and/or a water-soluble resin.

Emulsion ink for stencil printing

The present invention relates to [1] an ink-jet printing method including the steps of applying an ink (A) having a static surface tension of from 23 to 70 mN/m and containing a poly(N-acylalkylene imine)-modified silicone and a cationic polymer onto a recording medium, and then applying by ink-jet printing, a water-based ink (B) onto the recording medium; [2] a recording paper for ink-jet printing which is obtainable by applying an ink (A) having a static surface tension of from 23 to 70 mN/m and containing a poly(N-acylalkylene imine)-modified silicone and a cationic polymer onto a recording medium; and [3] a water-based ink set including an ink (A) having a static surface tension of from 23 to 70 mN/m and containing a poly(N-acylalkylene imine)-modified silicone and a cationic polymer, and a water-based ink (B) containing an anionic colorant. In accordance with the present invention, even when printed on a plain paper, the resulting printed images have a high optical density while forming ink dots having a round shape upon printing, and can exhibit an excellent image clarity and a high image quality without occurrence of severe strike-through.

PURPOSE:To obtain an emulsion ink which includes a surfactant of a specific HLB in the oil phase and is composed of a water-in-oil type emulsion with its aqueous phase thickened, thus showing high emulsion stability at elevated temperatures and excellent temperature dependence of ink flowability and image quality. CONSTITUTION:The ink is composed of an emulsion having 10 to 50wt.% of the oil phase and 90 to 50wt.% of the aqueous phase where the surfactant in the oil phase has 3 to 5.5 HLB and the aqueous phase is thickened so that the viscosity reaches 15 to 350 poise, The surfactant is preferably a nonionic one such as sorbitan higher fatty acid ester. In order to thicken the aqueous phase a water-soluble polymer is added to the aqueous phase comprising water, electrolytes, a preservative, a fungicide and an evaporation retarder. The water- soluble polymer is, for example, an acrylic acid resin, or acrylic acid resin derivative such as sodium polyacrylate.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet ink which is excellent in image quality and high-speed printing adaptation on plain paper, has good storage stability and ejection stability and gives less load on maintenance devices for an inkjet recording apparatus. SOLUTION: An inkjet ink includes a water dispersion of pigment-containing water-insoluble vinyl polymer particles, a water-soluble organic solvent and water, wherein the ink residue obtained by leaving the inkjet ink to stand under conditions of a temperature of 25°C and a humidity of 15% until substantially no mass change occurs, has a viscosity of 3,000 mPa s or less, and wherein the inkjet ink, the pH of which is adjusted to 7 with an acid, has a viscosity of 500 mPa s or more.
