Optical Observation of the Supercavitation Induced by High-Speed Water Entry

TL;DR: In this article, a shadowgraph optical observation was performed to observe the entry process of a high-speed projectile and the formation and collapse of the cavity behind the projectile, and a number of interesting observations relating to the motion of free surface, the splash, the underwater bubbly flow and so on were found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Further Study of the Generation Technique of High-Speed Liquid Jets and Related Shock Wave Phenomena Using a Helium Gas Gun

TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive experimental investigation was carried out with the aim of understanding the hydrodynamics involved in generating a pulsed high-speed liquid jet, where a wire cutting device for measuring the projectile velocity was installed at the exit section of the launch tube so that the impact velocity of projectiles and the velocity of liquid jets could be measured simultaneously.

High-speed photography of supercavitation and multiphase flows in water entry

TL;DR: In this paper, the formation, growth and collapse of supercavities induced by underwater high-speed projectiles were revealed using a high speed camera and single-shot optical device.
