Article history: Received: October 15, 2019 Received in revised format: November 26 2019 Accepted: January 27, 2020 Available online: January 27, 2020 The research explores the direct and indirect effects of reward, personality and job satisfaction on teacher’s organizational commitment in Public Vocational High Schools in Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia. Data for this study was collected quantitatively through a survey, involving a proportionate randomly selected sample of 154 teachers, by using a questionnaire. Path analysis supported by descriptive statistics was employed to analyze the data. The results confirm that reward, personality and job satisfaction had significant direct effects on organizational commitment; reward and personality had significant direct effect on job satisfaction; reward and personality had significant indirect effects on organizational commitment by mediating job satisfaction. Therefore, a fit research model found about the effect of reward and personality on organizational commitment by mediating job satisfaction with research settings on vocational high school in Indonesia. This model cannot only be used as a reference by researchers and practitioners in developing models of organizational commitment that are in accordance with their respective conditions, but can also be further developed and expanded into studies and projects to develop organizational commitment which is more complex and comprehensive by adding variables and other relevant dimensions. © 2020 by the authors; licensee Growing Science, Canada

Vitality of job satisfaction in mediation: the effect of reward and personality on organizational commitment

This paper aims to identify the personality traits (agreeableness, openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness and neuroticism) of library and information science (LIS) students in Pakistan. The difference among the personality traits of LIS students toward their information needs and seeking behavior is also analyzed.,Two instruments, namely, BFI scale and a self-structured instrument were used to collect the data. Kruskal–Wallis test was applied to find out differences among the personality traits of LIS students toward their information needs and seeking behavior.,Findings of the study revealed that out of 320 respondents, 186 possessed openness to experience, while only 7 possessed extraversion personality trait. Moreover, the students having extraversion personality trait were, generally, more concerned toward information needs. On the other hand students having conscientious trait were increasingly more seekers of information. Overall, the conscientiousness was identified as the most suitable personality trait for LIS students. A significant difference was also observed among all the personality traits of LIS students.,The findings of this study will help in the identification of LIS individual’s personality. The library managers can use these personality traits for the selection of suitable library professionals for their libraries.,This study can be valuable for the induction of new library professionals and also help managers in assigning the duties based on these personality traits.

Impact of personality traits on information needs and seeking behavior of LIS students in Pakistan

The purpose is to contribute to the debate on how job satisfaction might influence small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) employees' propensity to engage in innovative work behaviours. The authors examine the relations between job satisfaction and innovative work behaviour and each of its sub-dimensions: idea generation, promotion and realisation. Additionally, the authors explore the potential moderating effects of openness to experience and conscientiousness on the relations between job satisfaction and innovative work behaviour and each of the sub-dimensions of innovative work behaviour.,Paper-based questionnaires were used to collect data from employees in 28 SMEs located in the Aargau region of Switzerland. All the SMEs were part of the high-tech manufacturing industry. The authors’ hypothesized model was tested using hierarchal regression analysis on a sample of 125 employees.,Job satisfaction was positively related to innovative work behaviour and to each of its sub-dimensions: idea generation, promotion and realisation. Openness to experience moderated the relationships between job satisfaction and innovative work behaviour and job satisfaction and the sub-dimensions idea generation, idea promotion and idea realisation. However, conscientiousness did not moderate the relationship between job satisfaction and innovative work behaviour, nor between job satisfaction and each of the sub-dimensions of innovative work behaviour.,Findings demonstrate that supportive work environments in SMEs which help develop job satisfaction among employees can have positive effects on the discretionary performances of employees.,Studies that examine relationships between job satisfaction and innovative work behaviours in SMEs are extremely sparse. This study makes novel contributions to this line of inquiry by examining how job satisfaction relates to each of the three sub-dimensions of innovative work behaviour and by exploring the potential moderating roles of two important personality traits in these relationships.
