Orthogonal Analysis Based Performance Optimization for Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

TL;DR: In this article, a single parameter optimization method was used to obtain optimal values of the structural parameters, respectively, by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method; based on the results, they then use an orthogonal analysis method to investigate the influence of interactions of structural parameters on performance of the wind turbine.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Simulation analysis based performance comparison for vertical axis wind turbines

TL;DR: In this article, a novel wind turbine is proposed by improving the structure of Savonius wind turbine in order to increase the low wind energy utilization efficiency, and the simulation results show that the new wind turbine has high load capacities at different situation.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Performance comparison for savonius type wind turbines by numerical analysis approaches

TL;DR: In this paper, a fish-ridged wind rotor is proposed based on the Savonius rotor to improve the flow field characteristics, and the simulation results show that the flow fields of the fish-rigged rotor is smoother than the Savoni rotor and the maximum value of wind energy utilization of the former rotor is bigger than the latter.
