Trust: The Social Virtues and the Creation of Prosperity

Executive Overview We examine the current state of the social entrepreneurship literature, asking what is unique about social entrepreneurship and what avenues create opportunities for the future of the field. After an evaluation of social entrepreneurship definitions and comparison of social entrepreneurship to other forms, we conclude that while it is not a distinct type of entrepreneurship, researchers stand to benefit most from further research on social entrepreneurship as a context in which established types of entrepreneurs operate. We demonstrate these opportunities by describing avenues for further inquiry that emerge when examining valuable assumptions and insights from existing theories inherent in conventional, cultural, and institutional entrepreneurship frameworks and integrating these insights in ways that address the unique phenomena that exist in the context of social entrepreneurship.

Social Entrepreneurship: Why We Don't Need a New Theory and How We Move Forward From Here

Work on social entrepreneurship constitutes a field of study that intersects a number of domains, including entrepreneurial studies, social innovation, and nonprofit management. Scholars are beginning to contribute to the development of this new discipline through efforts that attempt to trace the emergence of social entrepreneurship as well as by comparing it to other organizational activities such as conventional entrepreneurship. However, as a nascent field, social entrepreneurship scholars are in the midst of a number of debates involving definitional and conceptual clarity, boundaries of the field, and a struggle to arrive at a set of relevant and meaningful research questions. This paper examines the promise of social entrepreneurship as a domain of inquiry and suggests a number of research areas and research questions for future study.

Social Entrepreneurship: A Critique and Future Directions

Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a complex yet promising organizational form in which market-based methods are used to address seemingly intractable social issues, but its motivations remain undertheorized. Research asserts that compassion may supplement traditional self-oriented motivations in encouraging social entrepreneurship. We draw on research on compassion and prosocial motivation to build a model of three mechanisms (integrative thinking, prosocial cost-benefit analysis, and commitment to alleviating others' suffering) that transform compassion into social entrepreneurship, and we identify the institutional conditions under which they are most likely to do so. We conclude by discussing the model's contribution to and implications for the positive organizational scholarship literature, entrepreneurship literature, and social entrepreneurship literature.

Social entrepreneurship as an essentially contested concept: Opening a new avenue for systematic future research

The idea of “social entrepreneurship” has struck a responsive chord. It is a phrase well suited to our times. It combines the passion of a social mission with an image of business-like discipline, innovation, and determination commonly associated with, for instance, the high-tech pioneers of Silicon Valley. The time is certainly ripe for entrepreneurial approaches to social problems. Many governmental and philanthropic efforts have fallen far short of our expectations. Major social sector institutions are often viewed as inefficient, ineffective, and unresponsive. Social entrepreneurs are needed to develop new models for a new century.The language of social entrepreneurship may be new, but the phenomenon is not. We have always had social entrepreneurs, even if we did not call them that. They originally built many of the institutions we now take for granted. However, the new name is important in that it implies a blurring of sector boundaries. In addition to innovative not-for-profit ventures, social entrepreneurship can include social purpose business ventures, such as for-profit community development banks, and hybrid organizations mixing not-for-profit and for-profit elements, such as homeless shelters that start businesses to train and employ their residents. The new language helps to broaden the playing field. Social entrepreneurs look for the most effective methods of serving their social missions. Though the concept of “social entrepreneurship” is gaining popularity, it means different things to different people. This can be confusing. Many associate social entrepreneurship exclusively with not-forprofit organizations starting for-profit or earned-income ventures. Others use it to describe anyone who starts a not-for-profit organization. Social entrepreneurship, as described here, is not a tidy concept. Its untidiness has been argued here to be a reflection of the way that the world is. There are, however, significant landmarks in the complex geography of the concept, and the purpose of this paper has been to advance an understanding of those marks and their importance. The authors submit that the notion as outlined above makes a significant contribution to understanding the complex phenomenon of directing organizational activity toward the achievement of social purposes.

Social entrepreneurship: A critical review of the concept

Purpose: The purpose of this study is the review of the relationship between organizational trust and organization creativity in the national company of refining and distribution of the oil production in Kermanshah – Iran. Methods and materials: this research is on the basis of the descriptive type, and the questionnaires are used in it. Aloonen, et al., (2008). Questionnaires are used for organizational trust and Randseep (1979) is used for organizational creativity, because Alpha in both of them is over 0.7 both of them had necessary lasting. Capacity of statistical society consist of 300 employee of the national company on the basis of the class accidental sampling among them, some of them have selected as a statistical sample and finally, 156 questioner have collected. Finding and results: kolmogroph – smineroph test was used for the determining of the normality collected data, and to confirm the results of it. Hypothesis of the research were put in test container with spearman conjunction test. Results show meaning full and positive conjunction between trust and creativity. That is as trust of employees about their organization, in creases, they should show much creativity. The result shows multiple linear regressions. That two various variance with organizational trust and vertical trust, have relationship with creativity dependant variance. Organizational trust with 78% coefficient had most share to determine of the various variance of creativity.

Purpose: the main purpose of this project is scrutiny of the relationship between social capital and organizational entrepreneurship at Kermanshah governmental organization.Materials and styles: This research is based on research styles and it’s type of descriptive and brunch of surveying. The implements for collection of social capital reporters questionnaire of Mallaie social capital (1380) that have constituted from 31 questions, read attentively social capital and its all aspects and for evaluation of organization of organizational entrepreneurship questionnaire of 22 question of Rabinsand Kotler(1996) entrepreneurship has been utilized. Perpetuity of social capital questionnaireis 0/88 and perpetuity of organizational entrepreneurship questionnaire is 0/79.becauseKoronbakh'salfa of both of questionnaires are over 0/7 thus, both of questionnaires had been embodied necessitous perpetuity. The considered statistic social content is, 978 persons of Kermanshah governmental organization employers. Based on proportional classificatory of sampling style between them, 146 people have chosen as statistical samples. Findings and result: in order to specification of attained datum normality, Colomoro. Esmirnoph examination has been being utilized. And the conclusion of examination confirmed the normality of datum. The conclusions signifying direct and positive relationship between social capital and organizational entrepreneurship. It means that, in investigated society what so ever social capital is increased the tendency of organizational entrepreneurship will increase.
