Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of arrowhead complexes with heavy meromyosin in a variety of cell types.

TL;DR: The significance of HMM-filament binding is discussed in view of the finding that arrowhead complexes form in types of cells not usually thought to contain actin filaments.
Journal ArticleDOI

DNA synthesis and myogenesis

TL;DR: Differentiating muscle cells synthesizing myosin, the meromyosins, and actin do not concurrently synthesize DNA, and the multinucleated skeletal muscle fiber is the product of cell fusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mitosis and intermediate-sized filaments in developing skeletal muscle

TL;DR: It is concluded that not all "thin" filaments in myogenic cells are uniquely associated with myogenesis, and Definitive thick (about 150 A) or thin (about 60 A) myofilaments are not found in skeletalMyogenic cells arrested in metaphase.
Journal ArticleDOI

MyoD converts primary dermal fibroblasts, chondroblasts, smooth muscle, and retinal pigmented epithelial cells into striated mononucleated myoblasts and multinucleated myotubes.

TL;DR: It is reported that MyoD converts normal dermal fibroblast, chondroblasts, gizzard smooth muscle, and pigmented retinal epithelial cells into elongated postmitotic mononucleated striated myoblasts, which fuse into typical anisodiametric multinucleated myotubes that often contract spontaneously.
