An apparatus for treating sewage to obtain substantially complete organic matter substrate and biological sludge oxidation prior to effluent discharge in a treatment system comprising a series of treatment chambers in a single unit; each treatment chamber having a generally circular peripheral crosssectional configuration, conduit means in each treatment chamber for directing the flow of mixed liquor in each chamber, gas supply means for supplying an oxygen containing gas to each treatment chamber so as to cause a continuous flow pattern of mixed liquor in the treatment chamber; inlet means for supplying raw sewage to the first treatment chamber of the series; outlet means for withdrawing clarified effluent from the last treatment chamber of the series; and fluid communication means for providing fluid communication between an intermediate top portion of each successive treatment chamber of the series. The system is preferably designed to provide environments suitable for microorganism growth and development through sewage organic matter consumption in the first treatment of the series, microorganism population maintenance in the next successive treatment chamber of the series and microorganism autodigestion in latter treatment chambers of the series, thereby providing an effluent substantially free of digestable organic matter and biological sludge.

In a filtration system wherein wastewater is recirculated back through a filtration bed for a second pass therethrough, the recirculated wastewater being directed through a set of secondary distribution pipes located in the filtration bed below those distribution pipes through which the wastewater is first carried through the bed, with hood elements arched over the respective secondary pipes.

Apparatus for use in an aerated sewage disposal system to aerate sewage waste in a septic tank comprises: (a) means including ducting to effect flow of waste from the tank, and to effect return flow of said waste to the tank, (b) other means to effect entry of oxidizing fluid into the waste flow, (c) said first means including distributed outlet means in the tank to discharge said oxidizing fluid in the form of small bubbles into the waste in the tank along with return of the flowing waste into the tank. The discharge into the tank causes a revolving flow of waste in the tank; and the outlet means may include a duct with a self-closing slit.

Aeration of waste in septic tank

An improved process and apparatus for continuously treating sewage wastewater by chemical oxidation of the contaminates and characterized by a high degree of oxygen absorption and utilization. An enclosed vessel continuously receives liquid wastewater at one end thereof to define a liquid level and the treated sewage is continuously removed from the other end to maintain the liquid level. Oxygen gas in the form of a mixture of O2 and O3 is introduced under pressure into the vessel, while pressurizing the vessel and creating an oxygen-rich atmosphere in an upper portion of the vessel, to chemically treat the wastewater through absorption of the oxygen by the wastewater. The wastewater is circulated from the lower portion of the vessel through the oxygen-rich atmosphere and directed in a stream against a driven rotating impeller for breaking the wastewater into a myriad of small particles and forcibly impelling the particles downwardly through the oxygen-rich atmosphere to strike the upper surface of the wastewater in the vessel and create a turbulent zone at the upper surface of the wastewater to increase oxygen absorption. The wastewater is hydraulically mixed by a helical flow of the wastewater created through the lower portion of the vessel from the one end to the other for further changing the interface between the wastewater and the oxygen to increase wastewater absorption.

Process and apparatus for continuously treating sewage wastewater by chemical oxidation

Reductions in energy consumption and maintenance requirements for operating a wastewater treatment plant are achieved by controlling the operation of pumps at pump stations along a force main in a systematic fashion. The operation of the pumps is controlled to manage the flow of wastewater along the force main to minimize energy consumption, to eliminate sediment, to manage peak pressures encountered by smaller pumps and to avoid septic conditions.

Wastewater collection flow management system and techniques

An aerobic bacteria sewage treatment apparatus using compressed air to aerate activated sludge, and to cause it to circulate about a cylindrical clarification compartment placed in the apparatus in a way to provide a zone of relative quiescence in the flowing sewage from which the clarification compartment withdraws liquid and further separates solid matter therefrom, finally delivering a very well clarified effluent, the effluent pipe being placed in the clarification compartment such that heavier particles tend to sink away from it and lighter particles tend to rise above it, whereby the effluent is substantially free of solid matter.
