Provided is an optical fiber ribbon capable of achieving higher density and reduction in diameter and accurately placing optical fibers in V-shape grooves in a fusion machine without failure. The optical fiber ribbon 1 includes three or more of optical fibers 2 arranged in parallel and connecting portions 3 connecting adjacent two optical fibers 2 together, the connecting portions 3 being intermittently provided in each of a ribbon longitudinal direction and a ribbon width direction. The connecting portions 3 are each formed in such a manner as to fill resin into a gap S formed between adjacent two optical fibers 2, and both surfaces of the respective connecting portions 3 are each formed into a recess having a concave shape curved toward a center of the gap S to separate from lines 4,5 each connecting contact points of the optical fibers 2 when being placed on a horizontal surface.

Provided is an optical fiber cable which is configured by having a sheath that houses a core assembly of optical fibers, wherein a prescribed water stop characteristic can be achieved while satisfying a sufficient mechanical characteristic. The optical fiber cable is provided with: a core assembly (1) comprising a plurality of optical fibers (11) and water stop threads (12); a tape body (2) that covers the core assembly (1); and a cylindrical sheath (5) that covers the core assembly (1) and the tape body (2). The tape body (2) is permeable, so that when water enters inside the tape body (2) the water stop threads (12) dissolve and the dissolved water stop material flows inside the sheath (5).

There is provided an optical fiber ribbon capable of realizing, in an optical cable, sure reliability, a reduction in size and weight, higher density, and a further improvement in workability, a method of manufacturing the same, and an optical cable using such an optical fiber ribbon. An optical fiber ribbon 10 includes four single-core coated optical fibers 11 arranged in parallel on a same plane; and coupling parts 12 arranged at intervals in a length direction and a width direction, each coupling only adjacent two of the single-core coated optical fibers 11 , wherein an interval P of the coupling parts 12 coupling the same two single-core coated optical fibers is not less than 20 mm nor more than 90 mm and a length Q of each of the coupling parts 12 is not less than 1 mm nor more than 10 mm.

An optical ribbon is provided. The optical ribbon includes a plurality of optical transmission elements. The ribbon includes a ribbon body coupled to and supporting the plurality of optical transmission elements. The ribbon body is formed from a flexible polymeric material such that the plurality of optical transmission elements are reversibly movable between an aligned position in which the plurality of optical transmission elements are substantially parallel with each other and a curved position.

Rollable optical fiber ribbon

Provided is an optical fiber tape core wire with which it is possible to implement higher density and narrower gauges, and to mount an optical fiber in a V-shaped groove of a fusion machine without falling away. An optical fiber tape core wire (1) has three or more optical fiber cores (2) which are positioned in parallel, with two adjacent optical fiber cores (2) being coupled with coupling parts (3), and the coupling parts (3) being respectively disposed intermittently in the tape core wire longitudinal and latitudinal directions. With the optical fiber tape core wire (1), the external diameter of the optical fiber (2) is 220µm or less, and the distance (L) between the centers of adjacent optical fibers (2) is 250±30µm.

Provided is a single-core coated optical fiber (11) having such a curve loss characteristic that an optical loss increase at a bending radius 13 mm is 0.2 dB/10 turn or below. An optical fiber tape conductor includes two-dimensionally arranged resin portions (18) for bonding each two adjacent single-core coated optical fibers (11). The resin portions (18) are arranged apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber tape conductor. An optical fiber cable includes a cable core unit for containing a plurality of sets of the single-core coated optical fibers (11) constituting the optical fiber tape conductor which are twisted together.
