This study incorporated the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model double-moment 6-class (WDM6) microphysics scheme into the mesoscale version of the Global/Regional Assimilation and PrEdiction System (GRAPES_Meso). A rainfall event that occurred during 3–5 June 2015 around Beijing was simulated by using the WDM6, the WRF single-moment 6-class scheme (WSM6), and the NCEP 5-class scheme, respectively. The results show that both the distribution and magnitude of the rainfall simulated with WDM6 were more consistent with the observation. Compared with WDM6, WSM6 simulated larger cloud liquid water content, which provided more water vapor for graupel growth, leading to increased precipitation in the cold-rain processes. For areas with the warm-rain processes, the sensitivity experiments using WDM6 showed that an increase in cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) number concentration led to enhanced CCN activation ratio and larger cloud droplet number concentration (Nc) but decreased cloud droplet effective diameter. The formation of more small-size cloud droplets resulted in a decrease in raindrop number concentration (Nr), inhibiting the warm-rain processes, thus gradually decreasing the amount of precipitation. For areas mainly with the cold-rain processes, the overall amount of precipitation increased; however, it gradually decreased when the CCN number concentration reached a certain magnitude. Hence, the effect of CCN number concentration on precipitation exhibits significant differences in different rainfall areas of the same precipitation event.

Biofortification of multi-grain substrates by probiotic yeast

Analyzing the physical-chemical and biological characteristics allows the evaluation of the water quality of a water body. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine the water quality index of the Passauna and Piraquara rivers, as well as to apply statistical quality control methodologies to evaluate the data resulting from the monitoring of water quality. Therefore, a database with physico-chemical and microbiological parameters of the Passauna and Piraquara rivers, a watershed of the Iguacu River, belonging to the cities of Araucaria and Piraquara, respectively Parana, Brazil, was used to carry out the research. The water quality index was determined with the time series and, subsequently, these data were submitted to the statistical control of the process, with the control charts of individual Shewhart, EWMA and CUSUM, in addition to the development of the process capacity index. The WQI detected that the rivers remained in average quality until the year 2000, however, from that year it was possible to see a decreasing trend in the water quality of the evaluated rivers. The control charts of Shewhart, EWMA, CUSUM and the process capability index were able to identify the decreasing trend in water quality, demonstrating that they are fast and efficient techniques for the evaluation of water quality control.

Statistical control of the process applied to the monitoring of the water quality index

Development of cumulus is studied by numerically integrating the equation of motion equations of conservation for water vapor mixing ratio, and the thermodynamic energy equuation. We use the terrain-following coordinate system called z'-coordinate system, in which we can easily treat any calculation domain with terrain configuration such as mountains. The model domain of calculation is restricted vertically to 4.Skin and horizontally to 100 km, has a bell-type mountain in the centeral part. Four cases are considered, one in a neutral environment, second in a slightly stable environment, third in a environment decreasing water content with low value of initial water vapor mixing ratio, the fourth in a case with higher vapor gradient. The more the atmosphere is unstable, the more cumulus develops easily and the more water vapors is abundant, the more cumulus develops easily too. More detailed cloud microphysics parameterizations and wet deposition must be conridered to use in air pollutants prediction model. KEY WORDS : cumulus, cloud water, stability, mixing ratio

A Numerical Simulation on the Development of Cloud

We have Studied the characteristics of wind over Pusan coastal area in order to precisely predict surface wind having an important effect on oil spill fate using the data on surface observation of Pusan, Kimhae and Gadeogdo island which are collected during the 3 years from 1988 to 1990. We also investigated the correlation of the surface wind between Pusan, Kimhae and Gadeogdo island. In both Pusan areas and Kimhae, the land and sea breeze occurs during. the whole season except for winter. The occurrence frequency of land and sea breeze is significantly high from April to August. The correlation of surface wind between Pusan, Kimhae and Gadeogdo island surface wind is high in the daytime. The occurrence frequency of sea breeze in the Kimhae areas is higher than that in Pusan on the basis of the present criteria. For monthly occurrence, Pusan has the highest occurrence frequency of the sea breeze in August and Kimhae has in May. Key Words : land and sea breeze, surface wind
