The invention relates to a braking system for a motor vehicle for actuating hydraulically actuatable wheel brakes (1), said system comprising: a first electrically controllable pressure source (2) for providing a brake pressure for actuating the wheel brakes; an electrically controllable pressure modulation device (6) for setting brake pressures that are individual to each of the wheel brakes (1), said device having an electrically actuatable inlet valve (60a-60d) and an electrically actuatable outlet valve (61a-61d) for each wheel brake (1); and a second electrically controllable pressure source (3, 3', 3'') for providing a brake pressure for actuating the wheel brakes, said source comprising a motor-pump unit (30) with an at least dual-circuit hydraulic pump (38a, 38b) and at least one low-pressure accumulator (33a, 33b), the low-pressure accumulator (33a) being connected to an output connection of at least one outlet valve (61a, 61b). The braking system is provided with a first electric energy supply unit (4) and a second electric energy supply unit (5) that is independent of the first electric energy supply unit. The first pressure source (2) can be supplied with electric energy by the first energy supply unit (4) and the second pressure source (3, 3', 3'') can be supplied with electric energy by the second energy supply unit (5), and the pressure modulation device (6) can be supplied with electric energy by the first energy supply unit (4) and by the second energy supply unit (5).

Also according to design, configurations and scenarios the system instantaneously restores or transfers the control back to the driver after the vehicle overcomes the critical situation or restores the vehicle position. In critical situations SAAAMS performs sensing, warns or alerts, performs pre computing & set ready to control the vehicle's acceleration prior to critical situation, current computing for controlling the vehicle's acceleration during critical situation, post computing to either stop or transfer the control back to the driver after overcoming the critical situation all accordingly to design, configuration and scenarios. The present system utilise smart and adaptive closed loop processing algorithm with predetermined and tested correlation table parameters to instantaneously check and compare the effects between predetermined and tested real world scenarios to the actual real world scenarios for actively sensing, computing and controlling the vehicle accordingly to mitigate the critical situations. An intention to turn across an adjacent lane is determined. Standstill of the host vehicle is determined. A control unit is arranged to, during determined standstill and a determined intention to turn across a lane containing oncoming traffic, determine if a risk of the host vehicle being hit from behind is high, and if so determined, generate and send a control signal to an EPAS control unit, which, in response to receiving such a control signal, is arranged to cause the EPAS to align the steerable wheels of the host vehicle.
