Evolution of the deformation relief on the surface of a clad aluminum alloy at random cyclic loads

The peculiarities of the accumulation of structural and mechanical defects on the surface of the D16chT aluminum alloy under significant plastic strains are analyzed. The peculiarities of the surface strain hardening are found, and the geometrical parameters of the relief formations are described. The relationship between multiple cracking and specimen deformation is established. It is proved that the deformation relief parameters can be used to assess damage of the D16chT alloy under static deformation.

Investigation of Statically Deformed Aluminum Alloy Surface

Digital identification and evaluation of the kinetics of damage accumulation on the surface of a fatigue sensor are performed using digital image processing. Damage accumulation is evaluated from the results of diagnosis of individual stages of cyclic deformation. It is found that the different stages of damage correspond to particular image parameters. The main features in the development of shear processes were identified by consistent processing of surface damage data. Theoretical background and experimental results are presented.
