Pyroelectric and dielectric properties of piezoelectric ceramics have been studied in the broad temperature range 293–483 K. The effect of gamma (γ)-irradiation on the pyroelectric coefficient and figure of merit of piezoceramic samples has been examined for the smeared phase transition region. The results obtained are discussed in the framework of the model of “quasiferroelectricity.” It is shown that PLZT-6 type piezoceramics produce stable performance pyroelectric devices when exposed to large γ-irradiation doses.

Pyroelectric and dielectric properties and switching of ferroelectric PLZT ceramics have been studied in the range 290–470 K. The effect of γ-irradiation on pyroelectric coefficient, dielectric permittivity and rate of Barkhausen jumps sequence at polarization switching of PLZT ceramics is found to be most pronounced at phase transition.

Switching processes and pyroelectric properties of γ-irradiated transparent ferroelectric ceramics

Processes of the domain structure (DS) realignment in PLZT ferroelectric ceramics are studied in a broad temperature range. It is established that in samples of polarized ceramics changes of temperature are accompanied by the DS realignment in the absence of the electric field. The intensity of domain processes depends on the mode of sample polarization.
