The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate if the intervallic exercise near to the maximum of intensity in a similar fitness population and in women is more effective to improve aerobic capacity than the continuous one of smaller intensity. In order to do it, ten healthy women between 18 and 25 years habitual inhabitants of Bogota city (located at 2600masl) were selected. They signed the informed consent and were divided randomly in two groups of five participants. They were undergoing to two traditional types of training of ten weeks, three times per week, one hour of duration every day. The continuous training group (Group 1) had a VO2peak intensity of 60%; for his part, the intervallic training group (Group 2) had five sessions of ten minutes of exercise at 70% of VO2peak and 90 seconds of recovery between each session. It was possible to demonstrate that, although the Cardiac Frequency (CF) average of group 2 participants during the exercise sessions were always over those of group 1, this difference was not statistically significant. In the same way, the basal CF and the recovery CF, as well as the VO2peak, did not have significant differences between both groups. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure average, as well as the Respiratory Frequency (FR) were always superior in group 2, and these differences were really significant. It was possible to conclude that there is not a significant difference in cardiovascular fitness between sedentary young women, after 10 weeks of two traditional types of aerobic training, one 60% continuous and other one 70% intervalic.

Entrenamiento continuo e interválico sobre el fitness cardiovascular en mujeres sedentarias

The aim of the study is of going more deeply into the knowledge of the behaviour of the HR of the professional football players into competition, identifying the most relevant criteria that define the context of the game situation where the professional players presents a marked increase in his values of HR in competition, elaborating a distinctive profile of the type of game situation associated with a high physiological load. To reach the mentioned aims it has resorted to a mixed methodology, in which the utilization of the methodology observational in complemented with a selective methodology. For the analysis of information there were retained a whole of 153 cases, correspondents to a whole of 6 professional players belonging to the first team of the R.C. Celta de Vigo, classified to dispute the Champions League in the season 2003/04. The results seem to indicate that they are three criteria that they allow arrange of a model with a high explanatory capacity of more than 80% of the variance of the behaviour of the HR, measured by the marked increases and the decreases in the values: centre of game, role and opposition, specially the first of them turns out to be key at the moment of being able to explain or predict it.

El comportamiento de la frecuencia cardiaca del futbolista profesional en competición. ¿Es posible explicarlo a partir del contexto de las situaciones de juego?

Desde el origen de la humanidad, la actividad fisica (AF) ha sido un requisito para asegurar la supervivencia y el desarrollo filogenetico de la especie humana. El patron de AF paleolitico venia caracterizado por el desarrollo concurrente de varias capacidades siguiendo un patron polarizado. A pesar de la evolucion humana, nuestro genoma apenas ha evolucionado en los ultimos 40.000 anos, dejandonos geneticamente adaptados para realizar una gran cantidad de AF diaria. Los bajos niveles de realizacion de AF en las sociedades modernas contrastan con los elevados niveles desarrollados por nuestros ancestros, produciendo un desequilibrio entre los patrones de AF actuales y nuestro diseno genetico e incrementando la prevalencia de enfermedades cronicas no transmisibles y de sus factores de riesgo asociados. A pesar de que los organismos internacionales como el ACSM o la OMS han intentado paliar esta situacion mediante el fomento de AF saludable, sus recomendaciones parecen no coincidir con el patron de AF realizado por nuestros ancestros durante el Paleolitico y para el cual seguimos geneticamente dotados. Se hace, por tanto, necesario estudiar y comparar la efectividad sobre la condicion fisica saludable del entrenamiento tradicionalmente recomendado por los organismos internacionales y el entrenamiento concurrente polarizado.

Efectos del entrenamiento concurrente, polarizado y tradicional, sobre la condición física saludable

El proposito de este documento fue reportar los beneficios de la actividad fisica, entrenamiento intervalo y entrenamiento continuo moderado en adultos sedentarios y fisicamente activos. La actividad fisica involucra cualquier movimiento corporal que produce un aumento en el gasto energetico en el metabolismo, mientras que el entrenamiento intervalo y entrenamiento continuo moderado puede ser utilizado para controlar el programa de cargas de entrenamiento (intensidad, volumen y pausa). Los beneficios que se han reportado cuando se realiza actividad fisica son; el incremento o mantenimiento de la condicion fisica muscular, funciones cognitivas, cardio-respiratoria, equilibrio, peso corporal, control de la obesidad, todos ellos disminuyen los riesgos de enfermedades cardiovasculares, enfernedades cronico respiratorias, diabetes, presion alterial alta, sindrome metabolico, cancer de colon, depresion y todas las causas de mortalidad. En contraste, la falta de actividad fisica a ha sido identificada como factor de riesgo y esta asociada a diversas enfemedades no transmisibles a nivel mundial. En este documento puntualizamos dos tipos de entrenamiento que han tenido aplicaciones para la salud en adultos. Este trabajo podria ayudar a promover la salud calidad de vida de la poblacion adulta y eliminar el sedentarismo mediante la prescripcion de la actividad fisica para la salud.

Continuos and intervalic training on cardiovascular fitness in sedentary women

The aims of this study were to compare the mean heart rate response in two training methods of equal average intensity based on running, the relationship of the maximal aerobic speed (VAM) with the reserve heart rate (FCR) and the effects of these modes of training on the basal heart rate (FCB) The study was carried out with eight physical activity students (23,25 years old; VAM: 17,93 Kmh), who performed: CC= 8 km at 70% VAM and CI= 4x(1000m at 90% VAM+1000m at 50% VAM) Heart rate was registered during sessions and FCB before and after of the training session The difference in the mean heart rate between both training modes not statistically significant However, the mean heart rate of the CC (FCCC) (Z=2,240; p<0,05) and CI (FCCI) (Z=2,380; p<0,05) were significantly higher than the calculated 70% heart rate reserve (FCR70%) The FCB was only significantly higher after CI (Z=2,319; p<0,05) In conclusion, two different training modes, but of equal average intensity, can produce a similar mean heart rate The intensity of the programed run based on the VAM is significantly higher than one based on the FCR The strongly increase in FCB can be influenced by the interval training method
