CONSTITUTION:When a current I flows between two probes 2, 5 positioned outside of four probes 2, 3, 4, 5 from a power source E, a current value is measured by an ammeter A. A voltmeter V measures the voltage between two probes 3, 4 positioned inside of four probes. Then, the thickness (t) of the conductive layer 1a of an article 1 to be measured is calculated from the volume intrinsic resistance of the conductive layer 1a of the article 1 to be measured, the current value I, the potential difference measured value between the probes 3, 4 and shape correction factor. By this method, the substantial thickness of the metal wall surface of water piping or a tank can be measured in a non-destructive manner.

The antenna conductor is basically configured of a two-wire folded di-pole antenna shown by (b), and the width of one conductors 52a and 52b of a pair of conductors arranged in parallel is set so as to be wider than that of the other conductors 54a and 54b so that characteristic impedances can be matched with a coaxial cable. Also, an antenna conductor is laminated on the transparent film 50 in such a state that it is bent like an L character, and the conductors 52b and 54b are provided with inductors 56 and 58 for delaying the phase of a reception signal by 90 degrees. CONSTITUTION:A detecting output level at which a using TV picture receiver produces a cross modulation is set at a reference level setter 40 of a TV receiving antenna device which is mounted on a traveling object. A synchronizing signal (a) sent from the TV picture receiver is applied to a control signal generator 31 to produce a sampling signal (b). Then the antennas which are connected to the picture receiver are selected successively for switch or synthesization by a switch 30. At the same time, a receiving level signal (c) is applied to storage circuits 32-34, and the detecting output level is stored in accordance with the antenna switching timing under the control of the generator 31. A level comparator 35 compares the stored detecting output level with the output level of the level setter 40. Then the switch 30 is controlled only when the detecting output level is lower than the set value. Thus, the generation of a fading phenomenon is prevented.

Furthermore, a non-directional antenna 15 having no phase directivity is provided and a variable phase shifter 16 is connected to the output of the antenna 15 and cardioid directivity is obtained by combining the output of the antenna 15 at a combiner 17 after the amplitude of the output is equalized to that of the output of the non-directional antenna containing the two 8-shaped directional antennas 11 and 12. When the phase shifted amount by the variable phase shifter 16 is changed, the maximum beam direction of this combined antenna can be rotated optionally.

In such a constitution, it is not needed to use a commercial power supply or a battery power supply for the meter 202.
