PURPOSE:To convert a description string of compound words into that of abbreviated words with a simple operation by designating the description to be converted into a string of abbreviated words out of a string of compound words and replacing the compound words with abbreviated words by a due converting instruction. CONSTITUTION:The description to be converted into a description string of abbreviated words is designated out of the description string where the abbreviated words are registered. Then an instruction is given for conversion of abbreviated words. Thus a description string where the designated descriptions are arranged, the number of description strings, and the reading form of each description of the description string are read out of the reading tables 91-93. Then the arranged reading strings and the number of said reading strings are stored into the abbreviated word record tables 101-104. At the same time, the description strings corresponding to the head and end phrases and a phrase held between said two phrases out of those phrases including the designated description are obtained out of the description control tables 81-84 which store a display range for description strings for each phrase, the storing position for head of the description string and the number of description strings and replaced with the description strings stored in the tables 101-104 for storage and display.

Kana/kanji converting device

PURPOSE: To easily and quickly correct a character string that is mistakenly converted by object-selecting the character string to be reconverted and reconverting its selection range in response to a correct punctuation if the converted character string has a wrong part. CONSTITUTION: If the string converted by a conversion processing part 15 has a partial error, an object selection range input processing part 17 specifies only the part. An object selection range correction processing part 18 checks the validity of an object selection range 24. Since it is automatically checked so as to attain the punctuation of a conversion unit, only the reading of an object to be reconverted can be correctly extracted. In a step processed by a reconversion processing pat 19, only the reading extracted from the corrected object selection range 24 is an object to be reconverted. Reconverting and processing system for object selection range

PURPOSE:To improve the conversion efficiency of sentence formation by deleting the division of a clause inserted into a misconverted conversion candidate, reproducing a 'KANA' (Japanese syllabary) character string obtained before inserting the division and reconverting the reproduced 'KANA' character string as one conversion unit. CONSTITUTION:When a reconversion command is inputted from a keyboard 17, a reconversion processing part 13 deletes a division to be the conversion unit of a conversion candidate already converted by a 'KANA'/'KANJI' (Chinese character) conversion processing part 12 reproduces a 'KANA' character string obtained before inserting the division and reconverts the reproduced 'KANA' character string to be one conversion unit into a conversion candidate consisting of a 'KANJI' sentence or a 'KANJI' mixed sentence based upon 'KANA'/'KANJI' conversion data stored in a 'KANA'/'KANJI' conversion dictionary part 14. When the input of the 'KANJI' or 'KANJI' mixed sentence reconverted by a reconversion processing part 13 is determined, the sentence is transferred and stored to/in a sentence data memory 18 to be a sentence storing means from the output buffer 120.

'kana'/'kanji' converter

PURPOSE:To correct a character string in a simple way by attaining a change to a desired candidate of the character string by a single operation with no consciousness of the change or no change of the division unit carried out at a correcting area in case of the character string obtained after conversion is not equal to the desired candidate. CONSTITUTION:An input KANA (Japanese syllabary) character string and its conversion are indicated in an input process 20. In the process 20 a control part 20 produces a conversion candidate having high likelihood of conversion to the KANA input and stores it in a memory part 3. Then the part 2 produces a candidate character string having the highest likelihood of conversion out of the part 3 and displays it on a display part 4. If the displayed character string is different from the desired one, the control is shifted to a candidate correcting process 50 when a candidate change indication is given from an input part 1. Thus a substitute candidate is produced and displayed in response to the candidate existing at a place indicated by a candidate change indication process 70. When the desired candidate is selected and indicated, the control is shifted to an optimum candidate production process 40 via a process selection deciding process 30. Then the optimum candidate connected to the candidate selected by the candidate change indication is produced and the result of conversion obtained at a connection part is displayed. The above-mentioned processes are repeated until the desired conversion candidate is obtained.
