An air quality modification apparatus for dispensing a volatile material, such as for scenting the air, controlling pests, allergen control, or the like, includes an electric motor having a rotor and a coil. When electric current is applied, the coil produces both heat and an electromagnetic field that causes rotation of the rotor. A source of the volatile material is located adjacent to the coil so as to be volatilized by the coil's heat. An impeller, attached to the rotor, moves air across the volatile material and blows the vapors away from the apparatus. Energy efficiency is provided by employing the electric motor coil as the source of heat to vaporize the volatile material. Also disclosed is a refill supply of a volatile material for use with such an air quality modification apparatus.

Axial-gap rotary-electric machine

In a rotating electrical machine, when a stator winding is wound in concentrated winding, an improvement in performance is achieved by reducing a magnetomotive force harmonic without reducing a fundamental wave magnetic flux generated by a stator. A rotating electrical machine ( 10 ) includes a rotor ( 18 ), and two stators ( 14, 16 ) opposed with the rotor ( 18 ) being interposed therebetween either on both sides of the rotor ( 18 ) in the axial direction or on both sides of the rotor ( 18 ) in the radial direction. Stator windings ( 22 ) provided in a plurality of portions in the circumferential direction of each stator ( 14, 16 ) are wound in concentrated winding. The directions of magnetic fluxes generated by stator windings ( 22 ) having the same phase in the stators ( 14, 16 ) are in mutually opposite directions with respect to either the axial direction or the radial direction. The stator windings ( 22 ) having the same phase in the stators ( 14, 16 ) are arranged to be shifted from each other by 180 degrees in electrical angle in the circumferential direction.

Rotating electrical machine

A sensor assembly for sensing a movable object which, in one embodiment, includes a housing defining an interior cavity. A rotor is retained in the cavity. The rotor defines a central bore and a magnet is mounted in an off-center pocket defined by the rotor. The rotor is coupled to the shaft of the movable object whose position is to be measured. A sensor is also retained in the cavity in a relationship at least partially overlying the magnet and adapted to sense at least the direction of the magnetic field generated by the magnet to generate an electrical signal indicative of the position of the movable object. In another embodiment, the rotor and sensor are mounted in separate interior housing cavities separated by an interior housing wall.

Rotary Position Sensor

A device such as an electric motor, an electric generator, or a regenerative electric motor includes at least one stator arrangement having a plurality of electromagnetic assemblies with each electromagnetic assembly including at least a portion of a magnetic core that is formed from thin film soft magnetic material. The electromagnetic assemblies define a plurality of stator poles. The device also includes at least one rotor arrangement supported for rotation about a given rotational axis at a certain range of normal operating rotational speeds. The rotor arrangement has a plurality of rotor poles for magnetically interacting with the stator poles. The rotor poles are supported for rotation about the rotational axis along a circular path. A switching arrangement for controlling the electromagnetic assemblies is configured such that the switching arrangement is able to cause the stator poles of the electromagnetic assemblies to magnetically interact with the rotor poles of the rotor arrangement within a certain range of frequencies. The number of rotor poles is selected to be a number such that the switching arrangement causes the stator poles of the electromagnetic assemblies to magnetically interact with the rotor poles of the rotor arrangement in a way which causes the ratio of the frequency of the device in cycles per second relative to the revolutions per minute of the device to be greater than 1 to 4 during the operation of the device.

High frequency electric motor or generator including magnetic cores formed from thin film soft magnetic material

The disclosure relates to an improved electric pulse motor having an arrangement wherein, with respect to a rotor element having a number of rotor-teeth, a stator assembly including a number of geometrically and electrically paired laminated U-shape stator elements is assembled based upon the conventional arrangement, but, the rotor element is provided with a specific construction for strengthening the rotor-teeth, so that radially extended rotor-teeth are reduced in axial thicknesses so as not to increase moment of inertia, making it possible to obtain a large magnetic attractice force from the stator elements so as to provide a large output torque.
