The appropriate use of human assets decides the destiny of any organization whether success or failures. All other assets in the organization are only supplementary to the use of human assets. Due to constant changes in the business environment, both to cope up with the change of the environment and to augment the human resources, the organization has to concentrate necessarily on developing the ability, wisdom and skills of its workforce. For such a development of human asset, ‘training’ becomes the base. Training is a tool to attain individual, organizational needs related to the jobs undertaken and is also intended to improve the productivity of the employees and ultimately a positive impact on the performance of the organization. Indian Telecom Industry: Challenges and Use of Analytics to Manage Customer Churn

‘Training and education’ plays an influential role in the field of Quality Management. There are many factors that influence the successful implementation of Total Quality Management in which factors such as training and education, employee involvement, management commitment, continuous improvement etc. play a pivotal role. The purpose of this paper is to design a Quality Improvement Oriented Training and Education Programme (Q_TEPS) for a plastic products manufacturing industry and to explore its performance by test implementing it into practice. The performance of the Q_TEPS was measured in financial terms in order to evolve the income and expenditure account pertaining to the Q_TEPS in the company. The implementation of Q_TEPS in the plastic products manufacturing company enables the company to gain a considerable amount of tangible and intangible benefits. The value of this paper lies in the indication from the literature review that no work has been done till date on implementing Q_TEPS in a plastic products manufacturing firm.

Implementation and financial accounting of quality training and education programmes in a plastic products manufacturing company

Many organizations do not understand, encourage and apply cost effective techniques like mentoring in training and developing employees. That is where the problem of this paper lies. To find solutions to this problem therefore, the paper seeks to give an overview of mentoring and examine its effectiveness and efficiency as alternative technique in training and developing employees as oppose to other training techniques that are directed only towards improving employee skills. The paper is descriptive in nature and draws largely from many research works in mentoring. Literature findings indicate that mentoring is not only beneficial to the mentee but also to the mentor and the organization at large. It also tends to improve both individual and organizational effectiveness and efficiency as illustrated in a case study of Nottingham University. The recommendation of the paper is that employees should be mentored so that the personal development of the mentee and mentor and organizational effectiveness and efficiency would be enhanced. It is suggested that further research be conducted in similar training techniques like coaching and counselling.

The recent trends in the world telecom market are: increase in private ownership, competition, data based mobile and global communication, trade and finance oriented operators, and rapid increase in subscribers from the developing nations. Several of these trends (such as increase in privatization, competition, mobile communication, digital divide) also exist in the Indian submarket. The submarkets of the world telecom market are mainly classified according to geographical location, and according to the technology used. India comes under the Asia Pacific geographical submarket. India had a traditional telecom market, which was dominated by public sector monopoly till 1990. Later, it was privatized by bits and pieces and now allows private sector participation in almost all the sectors of telecom in the nation. It has a rapidly increasing subscriber base. It allows investor friendly environment and has set up regulatory bodies to ensure justice to all players. In brief, the present Indian telecom sector is marked by choice, competition, subscriber growth, improvement in quality and service, and a shift from monopoly to oligopoly to true competition.
