Disclosed is a method for controlling a welding apparatus (1) or a power source (2), whereby an operator can set different welding parameters, such as welding current, welding rod diameter, welding method, etc. by means of an input and/or output device (22). The set welding parameters are supplied to a control device (4). Subsequently, the welding apparatus (1) or the power source (2) are controlled by the control device (4) according to the pre-set welding parameters. The operator can select a surface or a cross section of a weld seam, especially a fillet weld, before, during and/or after the welding process has been started by means of the input and/or output device (22). The control device (4) interrogates the set values for additional parameters especially stored in a storage device to form the weld seam and/or set or indicated for the welding process.

Method for controlling a welding apparatus and corresponding control device

Information pertaining to characteristics of consumables such as metal welding electrode wire and shielding gas and which characteristics are useful in connection with adjusting welding parameters in an arc welding process and/or selecting between operating modes in a welding system are encoded on welding wire and/or on other memory components such as bar code labels and tags, RFID cards and tags, IC cards, and Touch Memory buttons, and the memory device is scanned prior to and/or at the point of use of the welding wire or shielding gas for enabling tracking of product distribution, manual and/or automatic selection of an operating mode for the welding system, manual and/or automatic adjustment of welding parameters in a given operating mode, consumables inventory, and the like.

Coded welding consumable

An arc welding monitoring device which can easily recognize the correspondence between the operating path of a robot, namely, the weld line information of a work to be welded and detected data such as welding voltages and currents. The monitoring device is provided with means (4 and 5) which detect at least either welding currents or welding voltages, a means (14) which retains the detected data of the means (4 and 5), a means (14) which stores the operating path of the robot, and a means (12) which displays at least either the welding currents or welding voltages detected by means of the detecting means (4 and 5) and the operating path of the robot stored by means of the storing means (14) on a display, sets an extent on the operating path displayed on the display, and makes arc welding monitoring displays within the set extent.

Arc welding monitoring device

A system for enabling an electric arc welder adapted to perform various welding processes using weld parameters and a welding wire. The system comprises a first receptacle for a first memory button having a chip loaded with digital data indicative of a specific welding procedure specification constituting a set of at least weld parameters, a specific weld process, electrical characteristics, and selected welding wire features; a second receptacle for a second memory button having a chip loaded with digital data indicative of recorded features of welding wire loaded onto the welder; and, a disable circuit to disable the welder to process the specific welding procedure when the data indicative of recorded features of the welding wire fails to correspond with the data indicative of the selected welding wire features.

System for enabling arc welders

A technique for judging a welding quality for acceptance or rejection and displaying the result in diagrams, and an automatic welding device incorporating the technique therein. When an operation result record status judging means judges that past operation records are available, temperature distribution operation result records at joints of works to be welded are displayed by a weld penetration display means (23) and bead surface shape operation result records are displayed by a bead surface shape display means (25), whereby time required for operation by a temperature distribution operation means and time required for operation by a bead surface shape operation means (24) are omitted by an operation time omitting means incorporated in the automatic welding device.

Automatic welding device and welding skill training device

A welding condition setting device that allows even a beginner to easily set a work process and welding conditions for a target welding, comprising a welding information recording unit (12) recording therein welding working information on welding working such as information on a welding machine for use in arc welding, information on shield gas and information on welding wires, welding information inputting and outputting means (11) for inputting and outputting the welding working information, welding working information setting means (15) for setting the welding working information, retrieving means (13) for retrieving relevant information from the information stored in the welding information storing unit (12) based on information so set, and information control means (14) for giving the retrieving means (13) a retrieving requirement instruction in retrieving information in the information storing unit (12) and outputting the relevant welding information.

Automatic welding condition setting device

PURPOSE: To prevent defective generation of the arc when the arc welding is started, to reduce the gas cost, and to provide excellent bead appearance at the weld starting point and the weld completing point by using the CO2 gas with which the gas of relatively small electric potential gradient (e.g. Ar) is mixed, and changing the mixing ratio. CONSTITUTION: The arc try is achieved using the shield gas of smaller electric potential gradient compared with CO2 gas when the welding is started, the mixing ratio of the CO2 gas is gradually increased with the preset gradually increasing ratio to be transferred to the CO2 welding after generation of the arc is confirmed, and the mixing ratio of the shield gas of smaller electric potential gradient is gradually increased immediately before the welding is completed.
