A compensation system for a computer-controlled machining apparatus having a controller and including a cutting tool and a workpiece holder which are movable relative to one another along a preprogrammed path during a machining operation utilizes a camera and a vision computer for gathering information at a preselected stage of a machining operation relating to the actual shape and size of the cutting edge of the cutting tool and for altering the preprogrammed path in accordance with detected variations between the actual size and shape of the cutting edge and an assumed size and shape of the cutting edge. The camera obtains an image of the cutting tool against a background so that the cutting tool and background possess contrasting light intensities, and the vision computer utilizes the contrasting light intensities of the image to locate points therein which correspond to points along the actual cutting edge. Following a series of computations involving the determining of a tool center from the points identified along the tool edge, the results of the computations are fed to the controller where the preprogrammed path is altered as aforedescribed.

A repair overlay for masonry surfaces includes three layers each containing epoxy resins which contribute to bonding to the adjacent layers. The underlayer is a coating of epoxy adhesive. The layer that overlies the underlayer includes Portland cement and epoxy, acrylic and vinyl polymers and, in some forms, a flexible metal mesh or screen. The overlayer consists of an epoxy paint and, in preferred form, a second thinner layer of cementitious polymer bearing material.

A method and system for transmitting N-bit serial data (where N is a positive number) in the form of a bit serial, including a data sending circuit, a data receiving circuit and data transmission lines. The system includes a first data transmission line; a second transmission line; a transfer circuit, provided in the receiving means, for sending back to the data sending circuit through the second data transmission line, the bit content of received N-bit data each time one bit of the N-bit data is received through the first data transmission line; a comparison circuit, provided in the data sending circuit, for comparing the transmitted bit content and the bit content sent back on the second data transmission line; and a detection circuit provided in the data receiving circuit. The data sending circuit is adapted to transmit as a start bit a signal of a prescribed logical value before the N-bit serial data is sent, and, as an alarm bit, the results of the comparison after the N-bit serial data has been sent. The detection circuit detects whether the logical values of the start bit and the alarm bit are prescribed logical values, so that a transmission error or a break in a transmission line can be detected.

A feed speed control system for use in numerical control systems or the like, in which a set feed speed can be adjusted through a simple structure. The control system includes a memory circuit for storing a plurality of numerical values corresponding to feed speeds, a command circuit for issuing a command indicative of a prescribed numerical value from among the plurality of numerical values, an arithmetic circuit for incrementing or decrementing a numerical value read from the memory circuit in response to an output pulse from manual operation device, and a pulse generating circuit for generating pulses of a frequency which is proportional to an incremented or decremented numerical value from the arithmetic circuit.

The present invention increases screw cutting accuracy and simplifies the control of a screw cutting control system which performs screw cutting through the use of a numerically-controlled machine tool. A tapper (TPP) connected to a spindle, holds a tap (TAP) in a manner to be movable in the axial direction of the spindle, transmits the rotation of the spindle to the tap (TAP) for a predetermined range of forward axial movement of the tap (TAP) and transmits the rotation of the spindle to the tap (TAP) when the spindle is reversed. During screw cutting, feed by a feed motor (SZ) stops after the tap (TAP) enters a workpiece and the screw cutting is effected by the thrust of the tap itself resulting from the rotation of the spindle. The sequence of screw cutting is commanded by one block of command data.

PURPOSE:To make the edge of a corner part shape or round by adequately selecting two kinds of backlash correction through a selecting means for backlash correction mode. CONSTITUTION:When one of backlash correction modes, e.g. G77 is selected by a paper tape 11, an FF15 is set. A tape is moved in a X direction and positioned, and then when the command movement direction is changed to a X direction (XD=high), the output of an AND gate 14c rises to output a direction inversion signal XDRS (=high). Consequently, a correcting circuit 16 outputs a preset number of backlash correction pulses BCP. The pulses BVP are inputted to a pulse encoding circuit 21 through a pulse string accelerating/decelerating circuit 20. The circuit 21 converts the backlash correction pulses into positive pulses P or negative pulses P in accordance with whether a command direction signal CPS is at a high or low level, and outputs them. When a backlash is corrected, a backlash correction completion signal XBCE is outputted from a correcting circuit 16.
