The present invention is directed to an optical switch for switching the light from one of a plurality of inputs to one of a plurality of outputs. The switch contains at least two moveable mirrors constructed using MEM technology. These switches are useful in applications such as fiber-fiber switches and optical disk drives. The switches may be combined with other optical equipment including stationary mirrors and lenses.

A welding torch ( 10 ) for welding on a component has an electrode ( 12 ) within a nozzle ( 14 ) through which a flow of gas passes. A shield ( 20 ) defines an enclosure ( 22 ) around the nozzle ( 14 ). Means are provided for supplying weld filler material ( 18 ) into the vicinity of the electrode ( 12 ) through the shield ( 20 ). One end of the shield ( 20 ) is attached to the welding torch ( 10 ). The other end of the shield ( 20 ) is open and extends towards the component ( 16 ). An inflatable seal ( 28 ) is mounted on the end of the shield ( 20 ) to seal between the shield ( 20 ) and the component ( 16 ).

A welding observation device is provided to use a telecentric optical system and a photochromic filter (PCF), as an arc discharge light filtering optical system, for the confirmation of a welding condition under welding arc discharge without forming an image on the PCF, so that a light reducing performance is kept even in the case where a focus is shifted from the PCF with good monitoring of the welding condition. The welding observation device is comprised of an arc welding unit (8), an objective optical system (1, 2) for collecting light from the arc welding unit (8), a telecentric optical system (3) for guiding the light collected by the objective optical system (1, 2), a PCF (4) for irradiating the light guided by the telecentric optical system (3), and a solid state image picking-up device (9) for receiving light to pass through the PCF (4), wherein the light from the arc welding unit (8) is reduced in part by the PCF (4).

Welding observation device

An automated welding system is provided for welding a workpiece. The system includes a multiaxially movable arm, a fiber optic cable, a laser source, a focusing head, a focus lens, and a shield. The fiber optic cable is coupled to the arm. The laser source is coupled to the fiber optic cable and configured to supply laser light thereto. The focusing head includes a first end, a second end, and a passage extending therebetween. The shield has an inlet, an outlet and a cavity formed therebetween, and each of the inlet and the outlet has a diameter. The shield inlet is coupled to the focusing head and the shield inlet diameter is greater than the shield outlet diameter. The shield outlet diameter is sized to provide an opening through which the laser beam exits and prevents substantially all particles external to the focusing head passage from entering therein.

A welding torch comprises a torch body having a wire guide cylinder for guiding a welding wire; an internal cylinder fitted to the torch body in such a manner as to surround the wire guide cylinder; and an external cylinder fitted to the internal cylinder in such a manner as to surround the internal cylinder. The primary interception of outside air is effected with a second shielding gas layer blown off from a second gas passageway on the outer side, and the complete interception of outside air is effected with a first shielding gas layer blown off from a first gas passageway on the inner side. Consequently, it is made possible thereby to sufficiently prevent outside air from reaching a molten pool and also sufficiently suppress the generation of an unfavorable surface oxide, thus enabling welding work to be satisfactorily practiced by using the above welding torch.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a productivity by fixing a ring to an exhaust pipe having different pipe diameters from a big diameter to a small diameter by a seam welding in an exhaust tube manufacturing device of the same engine. SOLUTION: A seam welding device 80 is set on a ring 71 and an exhaust pipe branch tube 51, an outer periphery roller electrode 81 is abutted on an outer periphery of the ring 71 and an inner periphery electrode 83 is abutted on an inner periphery of the exhaust pipe branch tube 51. The roller electrode 81 is pressurized as an arrow 1 from the outside of the exhaust pipe and is driven as an arrow 2 and then, the roller electrode 83 is driven as an arrow 3. Thereby, the roller electrodes 81, 83 are rotated at the same circumferential speed and the ring 71 is seamwelded to the exhaust pipe branch tube 51 to fix the ring 71 to the exhaust tube 50.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding torch which is difficult to cause a wondering phenomenon when stainless or titanium with strong activity is welded. SOLUTION: This welding torch 10 comprises a torch main body 20 equipped with a wire guide cylinder 21 for guiding a welding wire 11, an inner cylinder 30 mounted on the torch main body 20 in a manner to surround the wire guide cylinder 21, and an outer cylinder 40 mounted to the inner cylinder in a manner to surround the inner cylinder 30. Outside atmosphere is primarily shut-off by a second shield gas layer jetted from an outside second gas passage, and then the outside atmosphere is completely shut-off by a first shield gas layer jetted from an inside first gas passage. Thereby, the outside atmosphere can be prevented from reaching a molten pool effectively, and generation of annoying surface oxide can be fully restrained, and thereby performing good welding.
