A modular water treatment apparatus is disclosed having a plurality of cells (12) each respectively arranged in use for housing a treatment bed and a plurality of spacers (14) located between respective adjacent cells (12). In use the spacers (14) are for providing an air gap between the cells (12). The cells (12) and spacers (14) are stackable to provide a multiple stage treatment apparatus in which water to be treated percolates through the respective treatment beds located in the cells (12).

A system for processing sewage into vermicompost includes a holding tank for receiving and initially processing the sewage. A treatment tank, connected to the holding tank by a first pipe, is used for treating the initially processed sewage from the holding tank to ensure optimal pH, percent of solids, and electrical conductivity of the sewage. A distribution tank, connected to the treatment tank by a second pipe, is used for heating or cooling the sewage from the treatment tank as necessary. A distribution apparatus, connected to the distribution tank by a third pipe, distributes the sewage to a vermicular environment, wherein the vermicular environment contains a plurality of worms which digest the distributed treated sewage into vermicompost.

Method and apparatus for biosustaining waste activated vermicular environment

The invention concerns a system to form different bacterial floras that serves as a decontamination treatment of residual waters. The system uses earthworms humus of any specie of earthworm, as a detonator of the different bacterial flora that may form depending of the type of residual water that is pretended to decontaminate, which is located in a celluloid support material in the first layer of the system as a support means for the stuck bacterial growth, inert material on the second layer of the system (intermediate) that can be stones or plastic, that may permit the formation of a bacterial flora the supports the degradation of the organic material and finally, on the inferior part (third layer) other inert material that allows to form an air chamber over the system floor, for which it is connected to the surface by vertical tubes through the different layers and horizontal tubes that are connected to the exterior through its walls of the system, this last layer can be made with prefabricated concrete material, stones of different sizes or plastic, that allow an aerobic material and a fast drainage of the water to the exterior of the system. The invention further concerns an apparatus for treating waste water or other waste liquids, including semi-liquids.

A method for continuous vermiculture is provided. The method includes providing a continuous vermiculture culture system. The continuous vermiculture culture system includes at least one culture member that is fluidly connected to an irrigation system. After preparing a feeding solution, a volume of the feeding solution is then infused into the at least one culture member via the irrigation system. The steps of providing a feeding solution and infusing a volume of the feeding solution into the at least one culture member via the irrigation system are optionally repeated to promote formation of culture-grade soil and plant growth within the at least one culture member.
