Comparative removal of enteric bacteria and poliovirus by sandy soils

TL;DR: In soils undergoing rapid infiltration of wastewater, indicator bacteria are conservative indicators of poliovirus removal, and in all soils, poliov virus removal was substantially greater than that observed for any of the bacterial indicator groups.
