A clinical decision support system is disclosed, comprising pathway models (1) for at least a class of medical conditions defined in respect of a first dictionary and first semantics (13) matching a need of groups of users having different roles in respect of a clinical workflow. A pathway generator (5) generates a first representation (6) of a patient specific clinical pathway in accordance with the source model. A pathway translator (7) translates the first representation (6) of the patient specific clinical pathway into a corresponding second representation (8) of the patient specific clinical pathway in accordance with the target model, using the mapping model (3) to map elements of the first representation (6) into corresponding elements of the second representation (8).

Background & Aim: Low-fidelity simulation is an educational method that provides active learning. This research was conducted to determine student nurses’ opinions of the low-fidelity simulation method.
Materials & Methods: This descriptive research was carried out with 54 student nurses between April–May 2017 in a skills development laboratory in the Nursing Department of a Health Sciences Faculty in Turkey. A questionnaire prepared by the researchers was used for data collection.
Results: The results of the research show that student nurses believe low-fidelity simulation was an educational method that improved skills and provided effective learning. Satisfaction levels of the student nurses related to this educational method were high and all of the student nurses felt that an education using this simulation method was very useful.
Conclusion: Based on these results, we recommend that low-fidelity simulation method should be used in nursing education programs.

The Philosophy of Nurse Education

Acquisition of knowledge and skills by nursing students before real-life practice is a familiar nursing education challenge. The use of clinical simulation in nursing education provides many opportunities for students to learn and apply theoretical principles of nursing care in a safe environment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate nursing students’ perceptions of clinical simulation as a teaching/learning method to increase self-efficacy during clinical practice in a nursing undergraduate program. A survey design was used for the study. A sample of 45 students completed the survey, indicating their confidence in various skills necessary for patient examination, both before and after the simulation experience. Results indicated that students experienced a significant increase in overall selfefficacy (p < .01), confidence in assessing vital signs (p < .01), clinical judgment (p < .01), communication ability (p <.001), and in providing patient education (p < .001). It was concluded  hat clinical simulation is a safe and effective method for nursing students to experience and practice patient examination using clinical scenarios to overcome challenging circumstances.
