A bibliography of papers on queueing networks with finite capacity queues

We consider a stationary waiting time in a Poisson driven single-server m-node tandem queue with either constant or non-overlapping service times. Each node except for the first one has a finite buffer, and is operated under production blocking. By using (max,+ )-algebra, we explicitly express the stationary waiting time at each node as a function of finite buffer capacities. We also address that the explicit expression is separable and monotone decreasing with respect to the buffer sizes. These properties are applied to a buffer allocation problem with probabilistic constraints on stationary waiting times.

Queueing systems for modelling ATM networks

A packet-switching network is considered as a tandem system of store-and-forward links. In this paper, it is shown that the maximum input traffic, with finite intermediate buffer size, is very sensitive to the distribution of the transmission time. The performance of two different protocols is compared under various distributions of transmission times.

The Influence of Protocols on the Stability Conditions in Packet-Switching Networks

The solubility behaviour of a synthetic uranium(VI) oxide was studied under inert conditions in aqueous NaClO 4 solution at 25±2°C. The dissolution kinetics were investigated in respect of pH in solution and O 2 partial pressure in the atmosphere. The actual uranium concentration was determined by ICP-MS measurements. Under acidic conditions we observed a moderate solubility which increases by lowering of the pH of solution yielding to a solubility constant of log 10 K sp = -24.38±0.07. The influence of the ionic strength, I, on the dissolution kinetics could be observed which was evaluated using a theoretical model considering the electrical double layer at the surface of the oxide as well as all possible reaction pathways. As a result we could determine the acid-base equilibrium constants of the surface groups and the overall reaction rate, k + , of dissolution process as a function of pH and I. On this basis we are able to determine the pzc of the uranium oxide, to be 7.28. It is in good accordance with a minimum in the tendency of the solid to dissolve which was observed in the pH range 6 to 8.

Solubility kinetics of a synthetic uranium(VI) oxide at different pH and controlled O2 partial pressure and evaluation of substantial interface properties

We consider a packet-switching network as a queueing system with constant service times: that means that the lengths of the packets are equal. We study such a network by isolating a particular path which we treat as tandem queueing system. Two aspects will be examined: the study of the response time of such a system, and the throughput of such a system when time-outs are used to destroy packets. The results we obtain show that when the interference between paths is neglected the response time is independent of the order of the stations. The control policy we examine proves the necessity to have a limitated memory capacity at each node of a packet-switching network. These results confirm the intuitive options taken in a network like CYCLADES.
