Journal ArticleDOI

Interferometric Confirmation of Radiation-Pressure Effects in Laser-Plasma Interactions

TL;DR: In this article, the significant role of radiation pressure during high-intensity laser-plasma interactions was observed, including electron density shelves, and small and large-scale deformations of transverse isodensity of surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polarization and Angular Dependence of 1.06-μm Laser-Light Absorption by Planar Plasmas

TL;DR: An enclosing "box" calorimeter has been used to measure the polarization and angular dependence of 1.06-m laser-light absorption under experimental conditions approximating those assumed by Estabrook, Valeo, and Kruer in their simulations as mentioned in this paper.
Book ChapterDOI

Picosecond Interferometry of Laser Fusion Targets

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of absorption mechanisms for short and long-lived implosion dynamics is presented, and it is shown that the dominance of one or the other is strongly dependent on electron density gradient length in the surrounding plasma atmosphere.
