X(3) of trans-(CH)x: Experimental observation of 2Ag excited state
TL;DR: In this article, the third order optical susceptibility (X(3)) in the semiconducting gap of trans -(CH)x has been measured through the technique of third harmonic generation, and the magnitude of X(3) parallel to the polymer chain direction is in excess of 10−9 esu for wavelengths larger than 1.3 μm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency dependence of the large, electronic χ(3) in polyacetylene
TL;DR: The third order optical susceptibilities of trans and cis-CHs have been determined in the spectral region below the gap by measuring the third harmonic generation efficiency as discussed by the authors, and the magnitude of χ(3) parallel to the polymer chains in trans-CH x is in excess of 10 −9 esu for wavelengths larger than 1.3 μm.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Linear And Nonlinear Optical Properties Of Polyacetylene
TL;DR: In this paper, measurements of the first x (1) and the third order optical susceptibilities X (3) in the spectral region below the band edge of polyacetylene are reviewed.
Proceedings Article
Frequency dependence of the large, electronic χ (3) in polyacetylene
TL;DR: In this article, a conjugated polymer was used to study the nonlinear optical response of this potentially useful class of optoelectronic materials, and polyacetylene provided a unique opportunity for studying the non linear optical response.
