Journal Article

Canine parvovirus infection potentiates canine distemper encephalitis attributable to modified live-virus vaccine.

TL;DR: It is suggested that CPV exerts an immunomodulating effect on canine immune responses and may be responsible for vaccination failures in dogs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and characterization of canine distemper virus nucleocapsid variants.

TL;DR: Nucleocapsid (NC) variants expressed by the Onderstepoort strain of canine distemper virus (CDV) were ultrastructurally and biochemically characterized and a third NC variant, defective-NC, was also identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid isolation of morbillivirus nucleocapsid for genomic RNA cDNA cloning and the production of specific core protein antisera

TL;DR: Both antisera were capable of detecting viral antigen in persistently and lytically CDV infected cells by indirect immunofluorescence and sufficient RNA was obtained for gel analysis and the establishment of genomic RNA cDNA clones.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro detection of canine distemper virus nucleic acid with a virus-specific cDNA probe by dot-blot and in situ hybridization

TL;DR: A cDNA library was prepared from canine distemper viral (CDV) messenger RNA (mRNA) derived from Vero cells lytically infected with the Onderstepoort strain (Ond) of CDV which identified a 300 base pair insert which was shown to be specific to the nucleocapsid gene.
