Study on the threshold relationship between landscape pattern and water quality considering spatial scale effect—a case study of Dianchi Lake Basin in China

Assessment of environmental governance in disaster vulnerability context of rural Bangladesh

Taking Xitiaoxi catchment located in the upper reaches of Taihu Lake basin as a case,the land use scenario in 2020 is simulated by applying CLUE-S model and Markov model with the spatial data of land use in 1985 and 2002 and the driving factors affecting land use change.Based on the forecasted land use map of 2020,the temporal and spatial patterns of land use are investigated with landscape metrics from both class and landscape levels.The results reveal that the significant characteristics of land use change in the future will be the increase of construction land and the decrease of farmland and forest land.In the future,the landscape metrics in the study area will change greatly.In the landscape level,patch number,patch density,diversity and evenness index and shape indices all increase,while the average patch area decreases.It indicates that the landscape is fragmenting,the patch shape is becoming more complicated,and the land use will advance toward diversity and homogenization.Moreover,the landscape heterogeneity varies with different kinds of landscapes,indicating the complexity of landscape ecosystem.

Land use/cover forecasting of catchment and its landscape ecological effects:a case study of xitiaoxi catchment in the upper reaches of taihu basin

By employing land-use data in Henan province,this article interpret and draw a remote sensing map of Henan province with the help of GIS and RS techniques.The landscape spatial patterns of land-use in research area were quantitative analyzed by using landscape indices.The results show that the dominant pattern of the landscape in Henan province is farm land;the proportion of its total area accounts for about 65 percent of all sub-areas,being followed by construction land and forest land.Forest land is mainly located in the northern,western,southwestern and southern mountains of Henan province.Urban construction land is inlaid in the whole research area,whose distribution pattern is closely related to cultivated farm land.Other patch types are distributed in research area.There was an obvious spatial difference in landscape spatial patterns of land-use in Henan province,because of the double effects of natural conditions and human activities.Four landscape ecological indices,such as landscape diversity index,landscape dominance index,landscape fragmentation index and landscape evenness index were chosen to analyses the landscape spatial patterns of land-use in research area.The results show that similar change trends were observed in all sub-areas in landscape diversity and evenness indices,but the change of landscape dominance index was reverse to landscape diversity and evenness indices.The landscape diversity and evenness indices in highlands and mountainous areas are higher than that in other sub-areas;however landscape dominance index is higher in plain areas than in highlands and mountainous areas.This is because the effect of human agricultural production activity in the highlands and mountainous areas is minor.In comparison,strong human disturbance and agricultural development reduced landscape diversity in the plain area.On the other hand,landscape fragmentation index of the transitional zones between mountainous region and plain is higher than that of others because of the influences of stronger human disturbance and weak ecological environment in those regions.The double effects of natural conditions and human activities have intensified landscape fragmentation process.Finally,the author suggests that more measures should be taken to improve the ecological environment and promote rational utilization of land resources in Henna province,especially in ecological fragile transitional zone.

Analysis of Land Use Driving Forces Based on Canonical Correspondence Analysis in Dianchi Lake Basin

Lake Basin pollution has become an important environmental problem, exploring its landscape pattern of land use and eco-environment characteristics is of great significance for environmental pollution control. Through the analysis of the landscape pattern indices of diversity, evenness, dominance and fragmentation of the three lake basins in Yunnan province of China, and based on the evaluation results of the ecological environment of the lake basins, to explore the relationship and characteristics between the landscape pattern of land use and its ecological environment. Research indicates: (1) According to the analysis of landscape pattern of land use in the basin, the level of landscape diversity and evenness in the Fuxian Lake Basin is the highest, followed by the Erhai Basin. However, the lowest is in the Dianchi Basin; the degree of landscape fragmentation in the Dianchi Basin is the highest, followed by the Fuxian Lake Basin, and the lowest in the Erhai Basin. (2) According to the results of the ecological environmental quality assessment, Dianchi Basin is the worst, while the Erhai Basin and Fuxian Lake Basin are better, and the Fuxian Lake Basin is the best. (3) The landscape pattern of land use in the basin is closely related to the quality of the ecological environment. Basins with good ecological environment quality have a relatively high degree of diversity and evenness, and relatively low fragmentation; in the basins with poor ecological environment, the degree of evenness and diversity of landscape are relatively low, and the degree of landscape fragmentation is relatively high.
