Deep learning models are efficient in learning the features that assist in understanding complex patterns precisely. This study proposed a computerized process of classifying skin disease through deep learning based MobileNet V2 and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM). The MobileNet V2 model proved to be efficient with a better accuracy that can work on lightweight computational devices. The proposed model is efficient in maintaining stateful information for precise predictions. A grey-level co-occurrence matrix is used for assessing the progress of diseased growth. The performance has been compared against other state-of-the-art models such as Fine-Tuned Neural Networks (FTNN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Very Deep Convolutional Networks for Large-Scale Image Recognition developed by Visual Geometry Group (VGG), and convolutional neural network architecture that expanded with few changes. The HAM10000 dataset is used and the proposed method has outperformed other methods with more than 85% accuracy. Its robustness in recognizing the affected region much faster with almost 2× lesser computations than the conventional MobileNet model results in minimal computational efforts. Furthermore, a mobile application is designed for instant and proper action. It helps the patient and dermatologists identify the type of disease from the affected region's image at the initial stage of the skin disease. These findings suggest that the proposed system can help general practitioners efficiently and effectively diagnose skin conditions, thereby reducing further complications and morbidity.

Artificial intelligence can assist providers in a variety of patient care and intelligent health systems. Artificial intelligence techniques ranging from machine learning to deep learning are prevalent in healthcare for disease diagnosis, drug discovery, and patient risk identification. Numerous medical data sources are required to perfectly diagnose diseases using artificial intelligence techniques, such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, genomics, computed tomography scan, etc. Furthermore, artificial intelligence primarily enhanced the infirmary experience and sped up preparing patients to continue their rehabilitation at home. This article covers the comprehensive survey based on artificial intelligence techniques to diagnose numerous diseases such as Alzheimer, cancer, diabetes, chronic heart disease, tuberculosis, stroke and cerebrovascular, hypertension, skin, and liver disease. We conducted an extensive survey including the used medical imaging dataset and their feature extraction and classification process for predictions. Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines are used to select the articles published up to October 2020 on the Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed, Excerpta Medical Database, and Psychology Information for early prediction of distinct kinds of diseases using artificial intelligence-based techniques. Based on the study of different articles on disease diagnosis, the results are also compared using various quality parameters such as prediction rate, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, the area under curve precision, recall, and F1-score.

Artificial intelligence in disease diagnosis: a systematic literature review, synthesizing framework and future research agenda

Lymph node metastasis in breast cancer may be accurately predicted using a DenseNet-169 model. However, the current system for identifying metastases in a lymph node is manual and tedious. A pathologist well-versed with the process of detection and characterization of lymph nodes goes through hours investigating histological slides. Furthermore, because of the massive size of most whole-slide images (WSI), it is wise to divide a slide into batches of small image patches and apply methods independently on each patch. The present work introduces a novel method for the automated diagnosis and detection of metastases from whole slide images using the Fast AI framework and the 1-cycle policy. Additionally, it compares this new approach to previous methods. The proposed model has surpassed other state-of-art methods with more than 97.4% accuracy. In addition, a mobile application is developed for prompt and quick response. It collects user information and models to diagnose metastases present in the early stages of cancer. These results indicate that the suggested model may assist general practitioners in accurately analyzing breast cancer situations, hence preventing future complications and mortality. With digital image processing, histopathologic interpretation and diagnostic accuracy have improved considerably.

Fine-Tuned DenseNet-169 for Breast Cancer Metastasis Prediction Using FastAI and 1-Cycle Policy

Fatal diseases like cancer, dementia, and diabetes are very dangerous. This leads to fear of death if these are not diagnosed at early stages. Computer science uses biomedical studies to diagnose cancer, dementia, and diabetes. With the advancement of machine learning, there are various techniques which are accessible to predict and prognosis these diseases based on different datasets. These datasets varied (image datasets and CSV datasets) around the world. So, there is a need for some machine learning classifiers to predict cancer, dementia, and diabetes in a human. In this paper, we used a multifactorial genetic inheritance disorder dataset to predict cancer, dementia, and diabetes. Several studies used different machine learning classifiers to predict cancer, dementia, and diabetes separately with the help of different types of datasets. So, in this paper, multiclass classification proposed methodology used support vector machine (SVM) and K-nearest neighbor (KNN) machine learning techniques to predict three diseases and compared these techniques based on accuracy. Simulation results have shown that the proposed model of SVM and KNN for prediction of dementia, cancer, and diabetes from multifactorial genetic inheritance disorder achieved 92.8% and 92.5%, 92.8% and 91.2% accuracy during training and testing, respectively. So, it is observed that proposed SVM-based dementia, cancer, and diabetes from multifactorial genetic inheritance disorder prediction (MGIDP) give attractive results as compared with the proposed model of KNN. The application of the proposed model helps to prognosis and prediction of cancer, dementia, and diabetes before time and plays a vital role to minimize the death ratio around the world.

Supervised Machine Learning Empowered Multifactorial Genetic Inheritance Disorder Prediction

Automatic melanoma detection from dermoscopic skin samples is a very challenging task. However, using a deep learning approach as a machine vision tool can overcome some challenges. This research proposes an automated melanoma classifier based on a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) to accurately classify malignant vs. benign melanoma. The structure of the DCNN is carefully designed by organizing many layers that are responsible for extracting low to high-level features of the skin images in a unique fashion. Other vital criteria in the design of DCNN are the selection of multiple filters and their sizes, employing proper deep learning layers, choosing the depth of the network, and optimizing hyperparameters. The primary objective is to propose a lightweight and less complex DCNN than other state-of-the-art methods to classify melanoma skin cancer with high efficiency. For this study, dermoscopic images containing different cancer samples were obtained from the International Skin Imaging Collaboration datastores (ISIC 2016, ISIC2017, and ISIC 2020). We evaluated the model based on accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score. The proposed DCNN classifier achieved accuracies of 81.41%, 88.23%, and 90.42% on the ISIC 2016, 2017, and 2020 datasets, respectively, demonstrating high performance compared with the other state-of-the-art networks. Therefore, this proposed approach could provide a less complex and advanced framework for automating the melanoma diagnostic process and expediting the identification process to save a life.

Melanoma Classification Using a Novel Deep Convolutional Neural Network with Dermoscopic Images

The human brain is the major controller of the humanoid system. The abnormal growth and division of cells in the brain lead to a brain tumor, and the further growth of brain tumors leads to brain cancer. In the area of human health, Computer Vision plays a significant role, which reduces the human judgment that gives accurate results. CT scans, X-Ray, and MRI scans are the common imaging methods among magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that are the most reliable and secure. MRI detects every minute objects. Our paper aims to focus on the use of different techniques for the discovery of brain cancer using brain MRI. In this study, we performed pre-processing using the adaptive bilateral filter (ABF) for removal of the noises that are present in an MR image. This was followed by the binary thresholding and Fuzzy Recurrent Neural Network (FR-Net) segmentation techniques for reliable detection of the tumor region. Training, testing, and validation datasets are used. Based on our machine, we will predict whether the subject has a brain tumor or not. The resultant outcomes will be examined through various performance examined metrics that include accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. It is desired that the proposed work would exhibit a more exceptional performance over its counterparts.
