A system for measuring the position of transponders for testing and training a user to manipulate the position of the transponders while being guided by interactive and sensory feedback through a bidirectional communication link to a processing system for the purpose of functional movement assessment for exercise and physical rehabilitation.

Human movement measurement system

The present invention provides a muffler which has an outlet tube with a funnel shaped element having a large diameter end positioned in an expansion chamber and conically tapering to a junction with a cylindrical neck element extending into an inlet end of an outlet tube. An inlet tube is supported by an outer shell which also supports the outlet tube. The inlet tube is attached to the outer shell by a first partition and a first end cap, forming a tuning chamber. The outlet tube is attached to the outer shell by the funnel shaped element and a second end cap, forming an outlet chamber. A space defined by the distance between the first partition and the second partition and the geometry of the outer shell forms an expansion chamber. The three different chambers serve to either tune or quiet the exhaust coming from an internal combustion engine, and the funnel shaped element serves to smooth the flow of exhaust from the inlet tube to the outlet tube.

Straight through muffler with conically-ended output passage

An exhaust muffler for a motor vehicle includes a louver tube having an intake end and an exhaust end. An outer tube, consisting of a frustoconical portion and a cylindrical portion, is concentrically arranged around the louver tube. A plurality of louvers and associated louver holes in the louver tube scoop a portion of gasses from the louver tube into the outer tube. An end cap, which includes an exhaust exit hole in its center, fits into an exhaust end of the outer tube. A plurality of end cap holes are arranged so that gasses leaving the outer tube flow through them. A restrictor disk between the end cap and louver tube includes a central hole coaxial with the louver tube and the exhaust exit hole of the end cap. Restrictor disk holes are in the restrictor disk between the central hole and its perimeter so that gasses leaving the louver tube flow through the central hole and the restrictor disk holes as they leave the muffler. A spiral vane defining a helical passage around the louver tube and inside the outer tube extends the path length of the gasses in the outer tube. A series of fins on the spiral vane extend orthogonal to an axis of the louver tube. A series of inner reverse cones are inside the louver tube upstream of its exhaust end. An exhaust system with this muffler is characterized by moderate backpressure at low rpms and little or negative backpressure at high rpms.

Self-tuning exhaust muffler

The exhaust muffler comprises a body (12) of ceramic material which is enclosed within a metal case (1) defining an inlet chamber (16) and an outlet chamber (18) for the exhaust gases. A blanket (20, 22) of refractory fibres resisting high temperatures, assembled with a very small amount of binder and substantially without water of constitution, is highly compressed between the body (12) and the case. A sealing element (24) surrounding the body (12) is interposed between the blanket and the gas outlet chamber (18).

Exhaust muffler for a motor vehicle or the like

A bymixer device and method which provides fast-response, accurate measurements of mixed inspired and/or expired gas fractions in open or closed ventilation circuits and/or in circle circuits used in anesthesia and/or critical care. The bymixer device may include a main flow channel and a bypass flow channel. The bypass flow channel includes a flow-restrictor (e.g, an orifice) that partially blocks the flow of respiratory gas through the bypass flow channel, a mixing chamber positioned upstream of the flow restrictor and a sampling apparatus (e.g., a port for withdrawing samples of gas from said mixing chamber and/or sensor(s) positioned within the mixing chamber).

Bymixer apparatus and method for fast-response, adjustable measurement of mixed gas fractions in ventilation circuits

A muffler for an internal combustion engine or the like having improved attenuation, minimal back pressure and minimal effect to column inertia through the muffler. The muffler comprises an outer housing and a first perforated tube insert extending from one end of the housing and terminating within the muffler. In another embodiment the perforated first tube includes a second tube insert abutting the distal end of the first tube in a continuous flow relationship therewith. The second tube has a smaller diameter than the first tube and includes at least one enlarged portion between its ends. Other embodiments are shown that include a combination of either the first and second tubes alone, a second tube with a plurality of enlarged portions between its ends, different sized enlarged portions between the ends of the second tube, various configured enlarged portions and at least two different sized perforations through the perforated tubes. A bracket is shown for attaching the tubes within the housing.

Muffler for an internal combustion engine

A muffler for use with internal combustion engines or the like having improved sound attenuation capabilities together with lower back pressure. The muffler has an elongated outer casing connected to inlet and outlet pipes by inlet and outlet transition sections. A central diffuser body is located within the outer casing substantially along the longitudinal centerline thereof. Mounting plates connect the front and rear ends of the diffuser body to the inlet and outlet pipes, respectively, to hold the diffuser body in place. An inner casing is spaced from, and conforms to, the inner surface of said outer casing between transition sections. The inner casing and the side wall of the diffuser body are perforated. Porous or fibrous sound absorbing material is contained within the diffuser body and between the inner and outer casings. The cross-sectional areas of the inlet pipe and the ring between the inner casing and the diffuser body are preferably substantially equal.
