Journal ArticleDOI

Metachromatic form of diffuse cerebral sclerosis. V. The nature and significance of low sulfatase activity: a controlled study of brain, liver and kidney in four patients with metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).

TL;DR: This finding of a sulfatase deficiency in a "model" lipid storage disease has been doubly intriguing, and raises the possibility of some cause and effect relationship with the sulfatide lipidosis of MLD, but also serves to focus attention on some critical, if thorny, biomedical problems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Success and Failure in Junior High School: A Critical Incident Approach to Understanding Students’ Attributional Beliefs

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employed a critical incident methodology in which junior high school students recalled naturally occurring successes and failures in four subject areas (English, math, general music, and physical education) and rated the relevance of eight causal attributions in explaining each outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies in myoclonus epilepsy (Lafora body form) II. Polyglucosans in the systemic deposits of myoclonus epilepsy and in corpora amylacea

TL;DR: A method by which the macromolecules deposited in these conditions can be extracted directly from tissues and then purified is described and some relevant chem-related findings are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies in myoclonus epilepsy (Lafora body form). I. Isolation and preliminary characterization of Lafora bodies in two cases.

TL;DR: This study notes a method for isolating a Lafora body fraction and examines the histochemical and chemical nature of LFB, which has left unclear the precise relationship between LFB and the pathogenesis of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

How American Adolescents Interpret Success and Failure in Classroom Music: Relationships among Attributional Beliefs, Self-Concept and Achievement

TL;DR: This article found a systematic decline in motivation for learning as students progress from elementary school to secondary school and found that students' attributions or explanati cations or explanations for learning were less frequent as they progressed from elementary to higher education.
