A lubricating oil composition formulated with a viscosity index (VI) improver composition including a combination of an ethylene α-olefin copolymer having no greater than 66 mass % of units derived from ethylene, and a linear diblock copolymer including at least one block derived primarily from a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer, and at least one block derived primarily from diene monomer.

Lubricating oil compositions.

The invention relates to a fuel-injection valve comprising a valve body (1), on whose combustion chamber end a pressure chamber (26) that is connected to a supply channel (7) is configured. The pressure chamber (26) is delimited by a valve member (20), whose valve sealing surface (18) lies by means of residual stress against a fixed valve seat (17) and which can be lifted up from the latter by the pressure in the pressure chamber (26). At least one injection opening (12) into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine is located downstream of the opening cross-section obtained by the lifting of the sealing surface. The valve member (20) has an essentially disc-shaped configuration and the valve sealing surface (18) is configured on the radially outlying peripheral area of said member and can be lifted up from the valve seat (17) in a resilient manner. The central section of the valve member (20) is pretensioned by a single retaining element (22) on the valve body (1) in relation to the resting position of said member against the valve seat (17).

Fuel injection valve for internal combustion engines

An electronic returnless fuel system for a vehicle includes a fuel pump to pump fuel from a fuel tank. The electronic returnless fuel system also includes a fuel rail fluidly connected to the fuel pump to distribute the fuel to an engine of the vehicle and a pressure transducer to sense pressure of the fuel from the fuel pump to the fuel rail. The electronic returnless fuel system includes a controller electrically connected to the pressure transducer and the fuel pump to control the pressure of the fuel from the fuel pump to the fuel rail at a set operating pressure. The electronic returnless fuel system further includes a pressure relief valve interconnecting the fuel pump and the fuel rail set a predetermined amount below the set operating pressure to leak fuel back into the fuel tank.

Electronic returnless fuel system

A fuel pressure regulator is provided between the outlet of the fuel pump and an inlet of a jet pump to control the flow of fuel to the jet pump. Desirably, during low voltage conditions in a vehicle, the flow of fuel to the jet pump may be temporarily restricted or terminated to decrease the amount of fuel diverted from the engine and thereby increase the flow rate of fuel to the engine and improve the performance of the engine. The regulator may also function to bypass fuel delivered from the fuel pump in excess of the engine fuel demand to control the pressure of and limit the maximum pressure of fuel supplied to the engine.

Fuel system with jet pump switching regulator

A fuel pressure pulse damper includes metallic damper body defining a chamber in which a flexible diaphragm is received in a manner to dampen fuel pressure pulses between a fuel pump and fuel injectors of a vehicle fuel system. The damper body includes a barbed fitting to receive fuel form the fuel pump and quick connect fitting for connection to a fuel rail for supplying pressurized fuel to fuel injectors of the vehicle engine.

Vehicle fuel pulse damper

In one embodiment of the present invention, a "returnless" fuel system for a motor vehicle is disclosed. A "series-pass" fuel pressure regulator in the system provides fuel of a regulated pressure to a fuel rail comprising at least one fuel injector. A "bypass" fuel pressure regulator provides fuel with a regulated pressure to the series pass regulator. An in-line fuel filter is located downstream from the bypass regulator, such that only the fuel which reaches the series-pass regulator is filtered. A check valve is located downstream from the bypass regulator as well, to prevent fuel pressure bleed-down through the fuel pump and the bypass regulator. A pressure relief valve is coupled to allow fuel with a pressure above a predetermined value to flow around the check valve.

A fuel composition having reduced tendency to discoloration at high temperatures comprises kerosine and/or is a jet fuel, and also comprises a cyclic compound comprising m units of the formula 1 a. and n units of the formula (Ib) joined together to form a ring, wherein Y is a divalent bridging group which may be the same or different in each unit; R 0 is H or (C 1 -C 6 ) alkyl; R 5 is H or (C 1 -C 60 ) alkyl; and j is 1 or 2; R 3 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl or a hetero-substituted hydrocarbyl group; each of R 1 , R 2 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, is hydroxyl, hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or hetero-substituted hydrocarbyl, with the proviso that at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 4 is hydroxyl, and m+n is 4 to 20 , m is 1-8 and n is at least 3 and preferably either R 1 is hydroxyl and R 2 and R 4 are independently either hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or hetero-substituted hydrocarbyl, or R 2 and R 1 are hydroxyl and R 1 is either hydrogen, hydrocarbyl or hetero-substituted hydrocarbyl; and m+n is from 4 to 20, m is from 1 to 8 and n is at least 3.

Electrode holder assembly

A process for the production of a hollow, stiff, noncircular fabricated steel structural member in which the assembly is accomplished by spot welding. The critical spot weld in this assembly is accomplished by causing the welding current to flow along a sheet metal member then through the sheet metal member and supporting the sheet metal member along which the current flows against columnar collapse by contact with a complementary surface of a welding electrode.

Spot welding process

A "returnless" fuel system for a motor vehicle is disclosed. A "series-pass" fuel regulator in the system includes an internal fluid passage containing a fluted pin and having a valve seat at one end. A valve ball bears against one end of the fluted pin and is biased toward the valve seat by a valve spring. The other end of the fluted pin bears against a diaphragm assembly. A main spring resists the movement the diaphragm assembly in the direction away from the fluted pin. The internal fluid passage in the regulator communicates with a chamber defined by the diaphragm assembly, the chamber further communicating with the outlet of the regulator. The inlet of the regulator communicates with the internal fluid passage when the valve ball is not seated against the valve seat and does not so communicate when the valve ball is seated against the valve seat.
