Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic correlation energy in 3- and 4-electron atoms

TL;DR: The electronic correlation energy in 3-and 4-electron atomic systems is compared to previously well-established correlation energies in 2-and 3-electrons atoms as discussed by the authors, and it is shown that the distribution of correlation energy between radial and angular correlation parallels that of the 2-Electron system very closely.
Journal ArticleDOI

Approximate Natural Orbitals for Four‐Electron Systems

TL;DR: In this article, a diagonalization of the appropriate first-order reduced density matrices is presented and compared for approximate natural orbitals for four-electron wavefunctions for Be as calculated by Boys, Matsen, Watson, and Weiss and LiH as determined by Ebbing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Doubly excited states and natural orbitals in the study of atoms by perturbation theory

TL;DR: In this article, the second-order energy shifts in perturbation theory were calculated by means of a natural orbital expansion method, and it was shown that rapidly convergent expansions are obtained, where each additional term accounts for at least 75% of remaining energy error.
