Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of chemically activated carbon from waste biomass by single-stage and two-stage pyrolysis
Anton Zubrik,Marek Matik,Slavomír Hredzák,Michal Lovás,Zuzana Danková,Milota Kováčová,Jaroslav Briančin +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, two-stage pyrolysis was used to produce activated carbon with high specific surface area, high degree of porosity and excellent sorption properties, and significant differences in morphology, textural properties, organic structure and crystallinity of prepared activated carbons were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Production, characterization and adsorption studies of bamboo-based biochar/montmorillonite composite for nitrate removal
Eva Viglašová,Eva Viglašová,Michal Galamboš,Zuzana Danková,Lukáš Krivosudský,Christian L. Lengauer,Rebecca Hood-Nowotny,Gerhard Soja,Annette Rompel,Marek Matik,Jaroslav Briančin +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the bamboo-based biochar/montmorillonite composite can be used effectively in the treatment of industrial effluents or waste water containing anionic pollutants such as nitrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of PMN modification on structure and electrical response of xPMN–(1−x)PZT ceramic systems
TL;DR: The structural and electrical properties of xPb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 was investigated as a function of the PMN content by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dielectric and piezoelectric spectroscopy and polarization-electric field measurement technique as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption of cadmium(II) on waste biomaterial
TL;DR: Significant increase of the adsorption ability of the eggshell biomaterial toward cadmium was observed upon milling, as is evidenced by the value of maximum monolayer advertisersorption capacity of 329mgg(-1), which is markedly higher than in the case of most "green" sorbents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bio-mechanochemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles with antibacterial activity
Matej Baláž,Nina Daneu,Ľudmila Balážová,Erika Dutková,Ľudmila Tkáčiková,Jaroslav Briančin,Mária Vargová,Miriama Balážová,Anna Zorkovská,Peter Baláž +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a bio-mechanochemical approach combining mechanochemistry (ball milling) and green synthesis for the first time, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) with antibacterial activity were successfully synthesized.
