Advancements in the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) Version 3 database – automated near-real-time quality control algorithm with improved cloud screening for Sun photometer aerosol optical depth (AOD) measurements
David M. Giles,Alexander Sinyuk,M. G. Sorokin,Joel Schafer,Alexander Smirnov,Ilya Slutsker,Thomas F. Eck,Thomas F. Eck,Brent N. Holben,Jasper R. Lewis,Jasper R. Lewis,James R. Campbell,Ellsworth J. Welton,Sergey Korkin,Sergey Korkin,Alexei Lyapustin +15 more
TL;DR: The AERONET Version 3.3.V3 (V3) algorithm as mentioned in this paper provides fully automatic cloud screening and instrument anomaly quality control for near real-time AOD data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Daytime Cirrus Cloud Top-of-Atmosphere Radiative Forcing Properties at a Midlatitude Site and their Global Consequence.
TL;DR: One-year of continuous ground-based lidar observations (2012) are analyzed for single-layer cirrus clouds at the NASA Micro Pulse Lidar Network site at the Goddard Space Flight Center to investigate top-of-atmosphere (TOA) annual net daytime radiative forcing properties.
Correcting the Record of Volcanic Stratospheric Aerosol Impact: Nabro and Sarychev Peak
Michael D. Fromm,George P. Kablick,Gerald E. Nedoluha,Elisa Carboni,Roy G. Grainger,James R. Campbell,Jasper R. Lewis +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors address the issue of Nabro's eruption chronology and injection height, and the reasons for the discrepancies in OSIRIS aerosol data, and offer a correction to the Nabro injection-height and eruption timeline.

Improved boundary layer depth retrievals from MPLNET
TL;DR: In this article, an improved PBL depth algorithm has been developed which uses a combination of the wavelet technique and image processing, which is less susceptible to contamination by clouds and residual layers, and in general, produces lower PBL depths.
