TL;DR: Intrapleural injection of tetracycline appears to be presently the optimal therapy of this condition.
Abstract: SummaryPleural effusions due to cancer are usually the result of involvement by the tumor of the pleura itself or the lymph nodes draining the pleural space.Diagnosis of the malignant nature of the effusion can be made easier by new techniques such as the assay of tumoral markers, chromosome analysis of the cells found in the pleural fluid, and pleural biopsy under direct vision during pleuroscopy.Intrapleural injection of tetracycline appears to be presently the optimal therapy of this condition.
