A portable computer docking station that is capable of allowing rotational movement of the computer's viewable screen in at least three different planes, thereby facilitating viewing and other utilization (e.g., using a pen) of the screen within a motor vehicle. The docking station defined herein is provided with a means for heating the portable computer when the computer is positioned in the docking station's holder portion. The heated holder portion effectively solves the problem of maintaining a portable computer at an operable temperature in cold environments. A vehicular computer assembly is also provided.

A potable ergonomic computer workstation is disclosed which will permit a disabled individual to operate a computer in a convenient and comfortable fashion from a bed, wheelchair, any chair or standing. The workstation is potable and includes a variety of adjustable support elements which may hold and support computer components including the keyboard, screen, mouse and pad, as well as the computer itself. Other electronic elements, such as a printer, fax machine, copier, television etc. may be employed with the workstation as well. The workstation includes a plurality of articulating arm elements which may be adjusted to a such a configuration to permit a standing, bed borne, or wheelchair borne individual to be able to utilize the computer from a standing position, bed or wheelchair. The articulating arm elements are supposed by a central shaft member which in turn is supposed by a base. The central shaft member has a hollow center to hold various electrical wires (ie: fiber optic, analogous digital, video and audio) for the electronic devices. The base includes a plurality of wheels to permit the workstation to be easily moved about. The wheels include braking elements which may be locked to secure the workstation in position. The workstation may include paper securing means, lighting means and may be utilized by individuals who are not disabled.

Portable ergonomic work station

An integrated computer implement work area has a rail typically in a wall panel for supporting an articulating arm and another rail for supporting one or more work surfaces. The articulating arm supports a video display terminal for movement toward and way from the rail as well as vertically with respect to the rail. The arm is also pivotably mounted to the rail. The work surfaces are mounted to another rail for lateral movement therealong and rotation about a vertical axis with respect thereto. One work surface mounts peripheral equipment platforms along a peripheral surface for sliding movement therealong. Concealed wiring chases house communication wiring between a central processing unit mounted in the wall panel and the video display terminal on the articulating arm; between the central processing unit and peripheral equipment, such as a keyboard, and a printer or a disk drive mounted to the peripheral equipment platforms on the work surface. Power cabling is also housed in the concealed wire chases between a source of power and each of the computer components. The work surface can be raised or lowered with respect to the floor for further accommodation of the user.

Integrated computer implement work area

Multi-jointed and pivoted support system for support of a flat panel video display and/or keyboard tray, incorporating a plurality of pivot points providing for pivotal motion of one or more components about a plurality of vertical, horizontal and elevational axis. Support arms having elevational pivot assemblies, including plastic friction washers and nitrogen gas springs which offer elevational arm control requiring constant and predetermined positioning effort on the part of the video display operator and keyboard operator.

Mounting system for flat panel display, keyboard and stand

A work station system (20) comprises a frame substructure (24) for holding aloft a horizontal axial shaft (74). A chair (22) is coupled to the shaft (74) by chair coupling member (90); a device carriage (27) is coupled to the shaft (74) by a carriage coupling member (92); and a footrest assembly (28) is coupled to the shaft (74) by a footrest coupling member (94). The chair (22), device carriage (27), and footrest assembly (28) are coupled to the shaft (74) to selectively pivot together about the shaft (74), and in such a manner that a constant spatial relationship is maintained between the chair (22) and the device carriage (27). The chair (22) is swivelly connected to the chair coupling member (90). The frame substructure (24) is situated substantially entirely on one side of a perpendicular bisector (78) dropped from the shaft (74) to a base (50). The frame substructure (24) includes axis elevating means (34) for elevating the shaft (74). The axis elevating means (34) carries a support surface (248) which is accessible by a human operator.

Work station system

The invention relates to a computer terminal station constituted by an input device and by an output device, both devices being separate one from the other. According to the invention, the station comprises a support for the device 2 constituted by a column mounted for sliding along its axis in a stand, and for rotation about its axis with respect to said stand, the top part of the said column being provided with a console mounted to pivot about an inclinable axis for the output device whereas between the column and the stand are provided means for their axial immobilization in relative rotation and whereas between the column and the console are provided means for adjusting the inclination of the console.
