Benchmarks for finite element modelling of bolted steel connections
TL;DR: In this article, the analysis of bolted steel connections by means of finite elements is presented, where elementary tee stub connections are endowed with different plastic failure mechanisms and can be used as benchmarks in the validation process of finite element software packages.
BookDOI
Design of Joints in Steel Structures: Eurocode 3: Design of Steel Structures, Part 1-8 - Design of Joints
Journal ArticleDOI
Calibration of a finite element model for isolated bolted end-plate steel connections
TL;DR: In this article, the analysis of bolted steel connections by means of finite elements was performed using the ABAQUS software package and a three-dimensional finite element model was proposed to simulate the stiffness and strength behavior of isolated extended end-plate steel connections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Basic issues in the finite element simulation of extended end plate connections
TL;DR: In this paper, both a legitimate methodology suitable to the analysis of extended end plate moment resisting connections and proper three-dimensional finite element models are established, for non-preloaded and preloaded bolted tee stubs which are provided as benchmarks.
