A system and method for controlling operation of an endgate of a screed paving machine using a control device is disclosed. The at least one control device may have a plurality of endgate controls and may be employed for issuing commands to a controller by an operator for controlling operation of the at least one endgate and operate the at least one endgate in an up mode and a down mode, changing the fore/aft pitch of the at least one endgate in tilt-up and tilt-down modes and operating the at least one endgate in auto-on and auto-off modes.

System and Method for Screed Endgate Control

A screed extension control system adapted for use on a screed assembly having a main screed, a main screed contact surface, a screed extension, and a screed extension contact surface. The screed extension control system comprises a slope actuator, a height actuator, at least one sensor, and a controller that is adapted to receive feedback from the at least one sensor. A virtual pivot point location is defined by a position where the main screed contact surface and the screed extension contact surface intersect. The controller causes at least one of the slope actuator and the height actuator to move between an extended position and a retracted position to control the position of the virtual pivot point location along the length of the main screed. An endgate comprising a mounting bracket adapted to be attached to a screed assembly, a pivoting plate adapted to be pivotally attached to the mounting bracket, a sliding plate, a pavement contacting surface and a support adapted to be pivotally moved with the pivoting plate, a means for applying force to the pavement contacting surface disposed between the support and the sliding plate, a first adjustment means adapted to adjust the amount of force applied by the means for applying force to the pavement contacting surface and a second adjustment means adapted to adjust the angle of the pavement contacting surface. A method comprising providing such an endgate, adjusting the angle of the pavement contacting surface and adjusting the amount of force applied by the means for applying force to the pavement contacting surface.
