Synthesis and Characterization of Enzymatically-Cross-Linked Poly(ethylene glycol) Hydrogels

TL;DR: Gels formed by cross-linking functionalized poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and a lysine-containing polypeptide through the action of a natural tissue enzyme, transglutaminase hold potential for forming highly hydrated networks around living cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control and Prediction of Gelation Kinetics in Enzymatically Cross-Linked Poly(ethylene glycol) Hydrogels

TL;DR: Control of gelation kinetics in formation of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogels by enzymatic cross-linking is demonstrated by demonstrating good agreement with theory upon variation of the enzyme concentration, with a slight overprediction in the time to gelation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tresyl-mediated synthesis: kinetics of competing coupling and hydrolysis reactions as a function of pH, temperature, and steric factors.

TL;DR: To maximize the total yield of coupled amine as well as the fraction of secondary amine linkages, the model predicts that it is desirable to run tresyl coupling reactions at low temperatures at pH approximately 8.0, depending on the amine pKa for primary, unhindered amines.
