TL;DR: In this article, the effect of managers' earnings forecasts on the security prices of the announcing firms and other firms in the same industry is examined and the results are consistent with information content in managers' forecasts and with information transfer between forecast firms and others in the industry.

Unexpected Earnings and Intraindustry Information Transfers: Further Evidence

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide evidence on the association between unexpected quarterly earnings information and the contemporaneous stock price behavior of announcing and non-announcing firms in the same industry, and find a positive sign and magnitude relation between unexpected earnings of announcing firms and unsystematic stock returns of nonannouncing ones.

TL;DR: This article examined the impact of earnings timeliness and its effect on earnings information transfers and found that earlier earnings releases yield negative information transfers to firms that previously released their earnings reports, and later earnings releases yielded negative information transfer to companies that have not yet disclosed earnings.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed and tested hypotheses involving the stock price informativeness of both earnings and revenue forecasts and showed that earnings forecasts without revenue forecasts are more price informative than those with revenue forecasts.
