Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19 challenge for modern medicine.
Tomasz Dzieciatkowski,Lukasz Szarpak,Krzysztof J. Filipiak,Miłosz Jaguszewski,Jerzy Robert Ladny,Jacek Smereka +5 more
TL;DR: The key is a holistic approach to the patient including, primarily, the use of personal protective equipment to reduce the risk of further virus transmission, as well as patient management, which consists in both quarantine and, in the absence of specific pharmacological therapy, symptomatic treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resuscitation of the patient with suspected/confirmed COVID-19 when wearing personal protective equipment: A randomized multicenter crossover simulation trial.
Marek Malysz,Marek Dabrowski,Bernd W. Böttiger,Jacek Smereka,Klaudia Kulak,Agnieszka Szarpak,Miłosz Jaguszewski,Krzysztof J. Filipiak,Jerzy Robert Ladny,Kurt Ruetzler,Lukasz Szarpak +10 more
TL;DR: In the absence of ACCD, it seems reasonable to change the cardiopulmonary resuscitation algorithm by reducing the duration of the CPR cycle from the current 2-min to 1-min cycles due to a statistically significant reduction in the quality of chest compressions among rescuers wearing PPE AGP.
Journal ArticleDOI
C-MAC compared with direct laryngoscopy for intubation in patients with cervical spine immobilization: A manikin trial.
TL;DR: The C‐MAC videolaryngoscope is an excellent alternative to the MAC laryngoscopy for intubating manikins with cervical spine immobilization and its results were significantly better than those with MAC.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized comparison of three chest compression techniques and associated hemodynamic effect during infant CPR: A randomized manikin study
Jacek Smereka,Lukasz Szarpak,Antonio Rodríguez-Núñez,Jerzy Robert Ladny,Steve Leung,Kurt Ruetzler +5 more
TL;DR: The new nTTT technique generated higher arterial blood pressures compared to established chest compression techniques using an infant manikin model, suggesting a more effective chest compression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloth masks versus medical masks for COVID-19 protection.
TL;DR: This paper aims to provide a history of cardiology in the field of emergency medicine in Poland and its applications in the context of natural disasters.
