Calcium for extending the shelf life of fresh whole and minimally processed fruits and vegetables: a review

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review of the use of different sources of calcium to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables in order to extend the shelf life and enhance the nutritional value is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hyperspectral imaging combined with principal component analysis for bruise damage detection on white mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus)

TL;DR: In this article, the potential application of hyperspectral imaging for damage detection on the caps of white mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) was investigated, and two data reduction methods were investigated: in the first, principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to the hypercube of each sample, and the second PC (PC 2) scores image was used for identification of bruise-damaged regions on the mushroom surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of atmospheric cold plasma and ozone on prebiotic orange juice

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of plasma and ozone treatments on the quality of orange juice was evaluated, and it was shown that after ozone and plasma treatment, the overall quality of prebiotic orange juice is preserved and the product maintained its functional appeal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of user-friendly software for design of modified atmosphere packaging for fresh and fresh-cut produce

TL;DR: The development of user-friendly software for MAP design of fresh and fresh-cut produce and the software has been found to simulate the package for any type of real-life distribution temperature history thus testing the ability of the package to withstand abuse.
