Simulation-Based Assessment of Rear Effect to Ballistic Helmet Impact

TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation-based method was proposed to study the rear effect by using Head Injury Criterion (HIC) when the ballistic helmeted headform is impacted by a bullet with different impact angles and at various impact positions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensitivity analysis of important parameters affecting contact pressure between a respirator and a headform

TL;DR: In this article, a finite element (FE) model-based method was developed to assess the contact pressure between a respirator and a headform and the results showed that the positive Z directional force of strap tension that forces the respirator to move towards the headform is the most important parameter for measuring pressure distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulating the Interaction between a Respirator and a Headform Using LS-DYNA

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a method to simulate the interaction between a respirator and a headform, and solutions for the universal design of respirators were obtained using reverse engineering techniques.
Book ChapterDOI

Human Head Modeling and Personal Head Protective Equipment: A Literature Review

TL;DR: This study attempts to review different kinds of head models and PHFPE, such as respirators, helmets and goggles, and mainly focuses on the historical developments.
