Essentials of Robust Control

Motion compensation (MOCO) is the key step in airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging processing. Motion errors can be obtained from the navigation data which is acquired from the inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on the plane. However, the accuracy of the navigation data is limited which is far from application requirement for high resolution system. Accordingly, raw-data based MOCO approach is necessary in airborne SAR azimuth focusing which is defined as autofocus method. The autofocus method includes no-parametric techniques such as phase gradient autofocus (PGA) method and parametric techniques including contrast optimization algorithm (COA), map drift algorithm (MDA), etc. Based on the conventional two-step MOCO method, this paper proposes an improved two-step MOCO technique combining the parametric and the no-parametric techniques to alleviate the dependence on the navigation measurement. Firstly, an improved sub-aperture COA is implemented to acquire the Doppler rate accurately which can be utilized in the estimation of motion errors. In the next step, PGA is applied to eliminate the residual phase errors. Imaging results on real strip-mode airborne SAR data validate the proposed MOCO approach.

An improved two-step motion compensation method based on raw data

Block adaptive quantization (BAQ) is widely utilized for reducing downlink data rate of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The mutual information upper bond of BAQ compressed data is proposed by means of establishing a mathematical mapping relationship between output signal entropy and input signal saturation degree, using information theoretical analysis method. Threshold saturation degree of input signal for BAQ to be effective are also obtained. Simulation SAR raw data are used to verify the correctness of the mapping relationship.

Mutual information upper bond of compressed data using block adaptive quantization algorithm

Quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) have developed rapidly in the last several decades, in which the maximum external quantum efficiency of the three primary color cadmium (Cd)-based QLEDs have exceeded the theoretical maximum value. However, the presence of Cd element has severely hampered their commercialization. Indium phosphide (InP)-based quantum dots (QDs) without heavy metals have continuously adjustable luminescence range from blue to near infrared, which is a competitive alternative for Cd-based QDs. Especially in the last few years, the synthesis techniques and the device structures of InP-based QLEDs have been greatly improved. In this review, we first introduce the properties of InP-based QDs, carrier dynamics and the early development history. Then, we focus on the development of InP-based red, green and blue primary color QLEDs from their first report in 2011 to the current state of the art. The effects of QDs structure (core/shell or gradient-alloyed QDs and organic ligand modified QDs) and device structure (charge transport layer and interfacial engineering) on the performance of InP-based QLEDs are also summarized. 

Development and Challenges of Indium Phosphide-Based Quantum-Dot Light-Emitting Diodes

The authors present several bounds on the structured singular value (SSV). They first adopt a generalized notion of which is useful for problems where uncertainties are assumed to be bounded in an l/sub p/-induced matrix norm. Two different types of bounds, in terms of Perron root and interaction parameters, respectively, are given for the new SSV, and their relations are discussed. These bounds are useful in that they are easy to compute and may be further analyzed to provide insights useful in design. >
