According to the present invention, there are provided a base station device, a terminal device, a communication method, and an integrated circuit capable of performing communication more efficiently when the terminal device transmits an uplink signal based on scheduling by the base station device. The terminal device includes a setting unit that sets a first uplink-downlink configuration, a second uplink-downlink configuration, and a third uplink-downlink configuration, a reception unit that monitors a physical downlink control channel accompanied with a downlink control information format which is used to schedule a physical downlink shared channel in a downlink subframe based on the third uplink-downlink configuration and includes information making a request for transmitting a sounding reference signal, and a transmission unit that transmits or drops the sounding reference signal and transmit an HARQ-ACK for transmission with the physical downlink shared channel.

To meet the increasing demand of wireless broadband applications in 4G/beyond 4G cellular networks, D2D communication can serve as a candidate paradigm to improve spectrum efficiency. By reusing the spectrum of cellular users, two D2D users can form a direct data link without routing base stations and core networks; thus, the spectral efficiency can be improved. Further, when the cooperation between cellular users and D2D users is enabled, a win-win situation can be achieved to make all users better off. Thus motivated, we propose a cooperative D2D communication framework in this article, which introduces the cooperative relay technique to conventional underlay/overlay D2D communications. Adaptive mode selection and spectrum allocation schemes are also presented to ensure better performance for both cellular and D2D users. Extensive numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed framework for a variety of scenarios.

Cooperative device-to-device communications in cellular networks

With the design of data communications in mind, 3GPP LTE-advanced (LTE-A) is probably the most promising technology for Internet of Things (IoT). For IoT applications, continuous low-rate streaming data may be reported from devices over a long period of time, imposing stringent requirements on power saving. To manage power consumption, 3GPP LTE-A has defined the discontinuous reception/transmission (DRX/DTX) mechanism to allow devices to turn off their radio interfaces and go to sleep in various patterns. Existing literature has paid much attention to evaluate the performance of DRX/DTX; however, how to tune DRX/DTX parameters to optimize energy cost is still left open. This paper addresses the DRX/DTX optimization, by asking how to maximize the sleep periods of devices while guarantee their quality-of-service (QoS), especially on the aspects of traffic bit-rate, packet delay, and packet loss rate in IoT applications. Efficient schemes to optimize DRX/DTX parameters and schedule devices' packets with the base station are proposed. The key idea of our schemes is to balance the impacts between QoS parameters and DRX/DTX configurations. Simulation results show that our schemes can guarantee traffic bit-rate, packet delay, and packet loss rate while save energy of user equipments .

An Energy-Efficient Sleep Scheduling With QoS Consideration in 3GPP LTE-Advanced Networks for Internet of Things

The sensing method a first vehicle user equipment (UE) for collision avoidance in a wireless communication network comprises receiving a set of scheduling assignment (SA) information allocated to a set of second vehicle UEs, decoding the set of SA information, each of which includes SA information to each of the set of second vehicle UEs, performing energy sensing operation for resources to be used by each of the set of second vehicle UEs to determine additional potential SA transmission and data transmission from the set of second vehicle UEs over the resources, determining available resources for the data transmission from the first vehicle UE based on the performed energy sensing and SA sensing, skipping a channel sensing operation on at least one subframe that is used for the data transmission from the first vehicle UE, and transmitting data among resources identified as unused in next transmissions from second vehicle UEs.

Methods and apparatus for resource collision avoidance in vehicle to vehicle communication

Systems and methods provide a parameterized scheduling system that incorporates end-user application awareness and can be used with scheduling groups that contain data streams from heterogeneous applications. Individual data queues within a scheduling group can be created based on application class, specific application, individual data streams or some combination thereof. Application information and Application Factors (AF) are used to modify scheduler parameters such as weights and credits to differentiate between data streams assigned to a scheduling group. Dynamic AF settings may adjust relative importance of user applications to maximize user Quality of Experience (QoE) in response to recurring network patterns, one-time events, application characteristics, protocol characteristics, device characteristics, service level agreements, or combinations thereof. Scheduling parameters may be dynamic and incorporate the notions of “duration neglect” and “recency effect” in an end-user's perception of video quality in order to optimally manage video traffic during periods of congestion.

Systems and methods for prioritizing and scheduling packets in a communication network

A quality of service framework is a fundamental component of a 4G broadband wireless network for satisfactory service delivery of evolving Internet applications to end users, and managing the network resources. Today's popular mobile Internet applications, such as voice, gaming, streaming, and social networking services, have diverse traffic characteristics and, consequently, different QoS requirements. A rather flexible QoS framework is highly desirable to be future-proof to deliver the incumbent as well as emerging mobile Internet applications. This article highlights QoS frameworks and features of OFDMA-based 4G technologies - IEEE 802.16e, IEEE 802.16m, and LTE - to support various applications' QoS requirements. A few advanced QoS features such as new scheduling service (i.e., aGP), quick access, delayed bandwidth request, and priority controlled access in IEEE 802.16m are explained in detail. A brief comparison of the QoS framework of the aforementioned technologies is also provided.

Embodiments of a mobile station and methods for dynamically adapting a grant interval during Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications in a broadband wireless network are generally described herein. The mobile station may detect a voice-state transition and may provide an indication to a base station to change a grant interval based on the detected voice-state transition. The base station dynamically adapts the grant interval based on the indication. Some embodiments utilize an adaptive granting and polling (aGP) service to dynamically adapt the grant interval based on the detected voice-state transition.

Techniques are described for a device to request a new service flow for best effort (BE) category traffic to assign a priority to the new service flow. For example, a Traffic Priority parameter in a media access control (MAC) message can be used to transmit the priority level for a new BE category service flow. The MAC message can be an AAI DSA-REQ message (specified in IEEE 802.16m draft 9 (2010)). Either a base station or a mobile station can request a new service flow using the MAC message.
