Medical Internet of Things, also well known as MIoT, is playing a more and more important role in improving the health, safety, and care of billions of people after its showing up. Instead of going to the hospital for help, patients’ health-related parameters can be monitored remotely, continuously, and in real time, then processed, and transferred to medical data center, such as cloud storage, which greatly increases the efficiency, convenience, and cost performance of healthcare. The amount of data handled by MIoT devices grows exponentially, which means higher exposure of sensitive data. The security and privacy of the data collected from MIoT devices, either during their transmission to a cloud or while stored in a cloud, are major unsolved concerns. This paper focuses on the security and privacy requirements related to data flow in MIoT. In addition, we make in-depth study on the existing solutions to security and privacy issues, together with the open challenges and research issues for future work.

Security and Privacy in the Medical Internet of Things: A Review

Vision-based systems are promising tools for displacement measurement in civil structures, possessing advantages over traditional displacement sensors in instrumentation cost, installation efforts and measurement capacity in terms of frequency range and spatial resolution. Approximately one hundred papers to date have appeared on this subject, investigating topics like system development and improvement, the viability on field applications and the potential for structural condition assessment. The main contribution of this paper is to present a literature review of vision-based displacement measurement, from the perspectives of methodologies and applications. Video-processing procedures in this paper are summarised as a three-component framework: camera calibration, target tracking and structural displacement calculation. Methods for each component are presented in principle, with discussions about the relative advantages and limitations. Applications in the two most active fields, bridge deformation and cable vibration measurement, are examined followed by a summary of field challenges observed in monitoring tests. Important gaps requiring further investigation are presented, e.g. robust tracking methods, non-contact sensing and measurement accuracy evaluation in field conditions.

Review of machine-vision based methodologies for displacement measurement in civil structures

The impact of Internet of Things has been revolutionized in all fields of life, but its impact on the healthcare system has been significant due to its cutting edge transition. The role of Internet of Things becomes more dominant when it is supported by the features of mobile computing. The mobile computing extends the functionality of IoT in healthcare environment by bringing a massive support in the form of mobile health (m-health). In this research, a systematic literature review protocol is proposed to study how mobile computing assists IoT applications in healthcare, contributes to the current and future research work of IoT in the healthcare system, brings privacy and security in health IoT devices, and affects the IoT in the healthcare system. Furthermore, the intentions of the paper are to study the impacts of mobile computing on IoT in healthcare environment or smart hospitals in light of our systematic literature review protocol. The proposed study reports the papers that were included based on filtering process by title, abstract, and contents, and a total of 116 primary studies were included to support the proposed research. These papers were then analysed for research questions defined for the proposed study.

Internet of Things for Healthcare Using Effects of Mobile Computing: A Systematic Literature Review

Internet of vehicles (IoV) is an improved version of internet of things to resolve a number of issues in urban traffic environment. In this paper IoV technology is used to select the best ambulance based on a novel node selection algorithm. The proposed IoT healthcare monitoring system consists of number of mobile doctors, patient and mobile ambulance. Performance rank (PR) index is calculated for each mobile ambulance based on the medical capacity (b) of the mobile ambulance, the number of patients currently using the mobile ambulance (n), and the Euclidean distance from a neighboring mobile ambulance. The minimum PR index is considered as best ambulance to provide a service to the patient. Random waypoint mobility model is used to simulate the proposed IoT based healthcare monitoring system. The proposed energy efficient node selection algorithm is compared with various node selection algorithms such as cluster based routing protocol, workload-aware channel assignment algorithm and scenario-based clustering algorithm for performance evaluation. The packet delivery fraction, normalized routing load and average end-to-end delay are calculated to evaluate the performance of the proposed energy efficient node selection algorithm. We have used NS-2 simulator for the node simulation to show the performance of the energy efficient node selection framework. Experimental results prove that the efficiency of the proposed energy efficient node selection algorithm in IoT healthcare environment.

Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects where information and communication technology connect multiple embedded devices to the Internet for collecting and exchanging data. An important advancement is the ability to connect such devices to large resource pools such as cloud. The integration of embedded devices and cloud servers offers wide applicability of IoT to many areas of our life. With the aging population increasing every day, embedded devices with cloud server can provide the elderly with more flexible service without the need to visit hospitals. Despite the advantages of the sensor-cloud model, it still has various security threats. Therefore, the design and integration of security issues, like authentication and data confidentiality for ensuring the elderly’s privacy, need to be taken into consideration. In this paper, an intelligent and secure health monitoring scheme using IoT sensor based on cloud computing and cryptography is proposed. The proposed scheme achieves authentication and provides essential security requirements.

In recent years, the electronic medical records can be easily stored with the rapid development of healthcare technology and cloud computing. However, the patient's medical information security is currently concern issue. Despite of many literatures discussed about it, these literatures still face many security challenges. Therefore, we propose an authentication scheme based on cloud environment. In our scheme, we allow people to use the digital develop mechanism to achieve the sharing medical data. By the way, the biometric fingerprint feature and digital signature are used to ensure the security of medical information in our scheme.

Design of a secure medical data sharing system via an authorized mechanism

With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology in recent years, and its increasing success in the automotive sector, many research efforts have focused on the issues in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). imultaneously, satellite technology is used for reliable emergency notification so that it can cope with significant accidents or disasters which potentially make traditional roadside radio communication infrastructure unavailable. However, these transmitted emergency messages are also vulnerable to unauthorized access, affect the privacy and security of people. Privacy and confidence of messages exchanged between mobile users are often regarded as two mutually conflicting issues. By using the cryptography, the proposed scheme can defend against known attacks and also solve some security issues such as mutual authentication, confidential communication, non-repudiation, user’s privacy, unforgeability etc. The system can also track malicious behaviors and prevent a legal registered mobile user from stealing the network control center’s private key to make sure no insider attack possibility. Our schme provides a good application in emergency notification of VANET.
