Soil salt leaching under different irrigation regimes: HYDRUS-1D modelling and analysis

TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors used the HYDRUS-1D model to simulate the water and salt dynamics in the soil profile and found that the irrigation regime of 20 cm, irrigated twice at 1-d intervals, might significantly increase salt leaching in the plough layer and decrease the risks of deep seepage and groundwater contamination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction of Soil Moisture Content and Soil Salt Concentration from Hyperspectral Laboratory and Field Data

TL;DR: This research examines the simultaneous retrieval of surface soil moisture and salt concentrations using hyperspectral reflectance data in an arid environment and found this two-step method showed applicability for analyzing soil-salt samples in the field.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental study on evaporation from seasonally frozen soils under various water, solute and groundwater conditions in Inner Mongolia, China

TL;DR: In this article, a mass balance method was used to estimate evaporation from frost tubes (5.5 × 300 cm) with treatments combining three solute contents (0.2, 0.4, and 0.6%) with three initial groundwater table depth (GWTDs) (2.0, 1.5, and 1.0 ǫm).
Journal ArticleDOI

Solute and water effects on soil freezing characteristics based on laboratory experiments

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of water and solute on soil freezing using TDR and temperature sensor combination methods were analyzed for analyzing significance for solute influences on the soil freezing characteristic curve (SFCC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Loosely coupled SaltMod for simulating groundwater and salt dynamics under well-canal conjunctive irrigation in semi-arid areas

TL;DR: In this paper, a loosely coupled mass balance model, SaltMod, is applied to simulate the flow of irrigation water and the salt transport at the Longsheng well-canal irrigation area in Hetao Irrigation District, Inner Mongolia, China.
