An ab initio study on the electronic structures of the solid/liquid interface between TiB2 (0 0 0 1) surface and Al melts

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used ab initio simulation to investigate the interfacial electronic structures between Al melts and TiB 2 surfaces with Ti and B terminations, showing that the formation of the first ordered Al layer on two TiB2 surfaces results from different types of covalent hybridizations, which influences the bonding states of further stacking Al atoms and the extension of ordered Al layers into the liquid during the early stage of heterogeneous nucleation.

Thermodynamics of fcc–fct martensitic transformation in Mn–X(X = Cu,Fe) alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the Gibbs free energy of the fct martensite phase is calculated for the first time and expressed as a function of temperature and alloy composition, and the dependences of chemical driving force on temperature for a given composition, that of critical chemical driving forces on composition and that of other thermodynamic quantities, i.e. entropy, enthalpy and heat capacity, on temperature were investigated.

Quantitative Research on Color of Cu-Mn-Zn Alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the color characteristics of ternary Cu-Mn-Zn alloys are investigated quantitatively and systematically using CIE LAB color system, the color parameters such as L*, a* and b*, which were measured by a spectrophotometer, are used to describe the surface color of the forty-six experimental alloys.
