PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which can display a whitely displayed portion in a white color and can display a blackly displayed portion in the crossed state of polarization (black display) in a black color and to provide a liquid crystal display device which uses the polarizing plate. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate is obtained by laminating a protective film on at least one surface of a polarizer made of a polyvinylalcohol film and satisfies the relation of [Ta/Tc]/[Tb/Td]>1.5, wherein Ta and Tb are transmittances at 440 nm and at 690 nm, respectively, when two identical polarizing plates are overlapped with the absorption axes parallel to each other and Tc and Td are transmittances at 440 nm and 690 nm, respectively, when two identical polarizing plates are overlapped with the absorption axes perpendicular to each other. The polarizing plate shows <=5.0 Hunger-b value for the hue with parallel absorption axes. The polarizer is preferably a polyvinyl alcohol film in which iodine is absorbed and the protective film is preferably a triacetyl cellulose film.

Disclosed is a disposable protective coverall formed from a high strength barrier fabric, the coverall being composed of a body portion (104, 114) having a neck opening in a shoulder line at its top; two sleeve portions extending from the body portion in which each sleeve portion has an inner edge (140, 144) and an outer edge (142, 146) and two leg portions extending from the body portion. The high strength barrier fabric can be a laminate containing at least one nonwoven web and at least one film layer. The high strength barrier fabric may also be a breathable barrier laminate which provides a water vapor transmission rate greater than about 100 gm/m2/24 hours.

PURPOSE: To produce a simple and inexpensive fiber structure excellent in a mass feeling and moisture permeable performance, having durability, not damaging characteristics of a synthetic fiber itself constituting the fiber structure. CONSTITUTION: This fiber structure is impregnated with a resin. The resin is a cross-linked product of a protein. The fiber structure is obtained by impregnating a fiber structure, in which the cross-linking bond of the cross-linked product is a bond between a γ-carboxamide group as the glutamine reside of an amino acid constituting the protein and an e-amino group as the lysine residue, with the protein and transglutaminase and heat-treating the fiber structure to form an insolubilized product as the cross-linked protein in the fiber structure.

PURPOSE:To stabilize the enzymatic activity by immobilizing a proteolytic enzyme and at least another digestive enzyme on a water-soluble organic high- molecular polymer. CONSTITUTION:A specified amount of a water-soluble organic high-molecular polymer such as a methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer is dissolved in a certain amount of a phosphate buffer solution to form a solution (A). A specified amount of a proteolytic enzyme such as alkali protease is dissolved in a certain amount of a phosphate buffer solution to form a solution (B). A specified amount of at least one digestive enzyme selected from among a fat or oil decomposition enzyme such as lipase, a starch decomposition enzyme such as amylase and like enzymes is dissolved in a certain amount of a phosphate buffer solution to form a solution (C). Equal volumes of solutions A, B and C are mixed with each other, and the resulting mixture is subjected to an enzyme immobilization reaction at 20 deg.C for about 48 hours to immobilize the enzymes simultaneously. Thus, the objective assistant having high enzymatic activity and high deterging power can be obtained.

CONSTITUTION:A fiber structure having the surface coated with a resin is characterized in that the resin contains an ultraviolet ray absorber. The fiber structure excellent in light fastness of this invention is produced by a method for dipping the fiber structure in a resin solution containing the ultraviolet ray absorber or coating the fiber structure with the solution.

PURPOSE: To obtain a polarizing film having excellent polarization power and wet heat durability in combination by immersing a polarizing film formed by adsorbing iodine to a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film and orienting the same into an aq. soln. consisting of boric acid, potassium iodide and iron compd. CONSTITUTION: The PVA film formed by the adsorption of the iodine and the orientation is immersed into the aq. soln. consisting of the boric acid, the potassium iodide and the iron compd. The iron compd. to be used is exemplified by iron halides such as ferrous iron and ferrous iodide and inorg. iron slats such as ferrous sulfate and ferrous nitrate. The concn. of the iron compd. in the aq. soln. is preferably 0.1W20wt.%, more particularly preferably 0.5W10wt.%. The boric acid in the aq. soln. is added to the soln. preferably 1W10wt.%, more particularly preferably 2W4.5wt.% concn. The quantity of the potassium iodide to be added is preferably 2W20wt.%, more particularly preferably 5W15wt.% concn.
